Xavier - Girls Golf
MJ Kamin of Washington, Maddie Bertsch of Xavier and Grace Winker of Xavier have been named first team all-state by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association.
Kamin was honored in Class 5A while Bertsch and Winker were selected in Class 4A.
Ali Lindo of Kennedy was named second team all-state in Class 5A. Lisa Olberding of Xavier was named second team all-state in Class 4A.
Xavier - Girls Golf
AMES - Inclement weather Wednesday forced cancellation of the final round of the Class 4A girls golf tournament. The event was cut short to the 18 holes played Tuesday.
Maddie Bertsch shot a 10-over par 83 to lead Xavier to a second-place finish at the Ames Golf & Country Club.
Bertsch finished seventh in medal play. Grace Winker tied for 10th.
Charles City won the meet by 22 strokes over Xavier. The Comets' Jessie Sindlinger fired an 8-under par 65 to claim medalist honors.
Xavier - Girls Golf
AMES - Maddie Bertsch shot a 10-over par 83 to lead Xavier into second place after the first day of the Class 4A state girls golf tournament at Ames Golf & Country Club.
Bertsch is in seventh place in medal play. Grace Winker is tied for 10th after shooting an 87.
Charles City holds a 22-stroke lead over Xavier. The Comets' Jessie Sindlinger fired an 8-under par 65 and holds the top spot in medal play. She has an eight-stroke lead over MacKenzie Black of Independence.

Xavier - Girls Golf
OSKALOOSA - Maddie Bertsch was medalist with a 76 and teammate Grace Winker finished second with an 83 to lead Xavier to the Class 4A Region 3 championship Monday in girls golf at Edmondson Golf Club.
Xavier scored a 41-shot victory over Mount Pleasant. Both teams advance to the 4A state tournament May 28-29 at the Ames Golf and Country Club.
Bertsch and Winker also qualified for medal play at the state tournament.

Xavier's Maddie Bertsch shot a 76 for runnerup medalist Monday and the Saints claimed first place at the Kennedy Invitational girls golf meet at Ellis Park.
Bertsch was one of four Saints to finish in the top 10. Grace Winker was fifth, Kara Zwanziger seventh and Lisa Olberding ninth.
Xavier won by 12 strokes over Ottumwa. Linn-Mar was fourth, Kennedy sixth, Prairie seventh and Jefferson ninth in the nine-team field.
