Xavier - Girls Golf
Xavier finished second at the Linn-Mar quadrangular girls golf meet Thursday at Hunters Ridge.
Grace Winker shot a 44 for low round for the Saints. Maddie Bertsch and Amy Olberding each shot 45.
Cedar Falls won with a 172 score, 10 strokes better than Xavier. The Tigers' Allison Rolinger and Hanna Hagerty tied for medalist honors with 42s.
Linn-Mar was third. Lauren Coughlin led the Lions with a 43.
Xavier - Girls Golf
Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids opened a state-of-the-art indoor facility this winter to help golfers work on their game when it was too cold or wet to play outside.
MJ Kamin of Washington and Maddie Bertsch of Xavier spent as much time there as they could and are glad they did.
Kamin and Bertsch shot 11-over-par 83's and shared runnerup honors at the Linn-Mar Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Hunters Ridge to establish themselves as two of the top female golfers in the Metro this year.
Rachele Miller of Pleasant Valley won the tournament with an 8-over 80 to help her team claim the team championship.
Xavier - Girls Golf
WATERLOO - Grace Winker shot a 3-over-par 39 to lead Xavier to the victory Tuesday at the Waterloo East quadrangular girls golf meet held at Gates Park.
Winker was medalist. Teammate Maddie Bertsch was runnerup with a 42.
Xavier beat Linn-Mar by 13 strokes. Dubuque Wahlert was third and East fourth.

Maddie Bertsch fired a 3-over-par 39 Tuesday to claim medalist honors and lead the Xavier Saints to first place in a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular meet at Twin Pines.
Grace Winker shot a 42 for the Saints.

Maddie Bertsch took medalist honors with a 40 Monday as the Xavier Saints won a Mississippi Valley Conference triangular meet at Jones Park Golf Course.
Grace Winker of Xavier and Taylor Utter of Prairie tied for second place at 42 for nine holes.
XAVIER (173): Maddie Bertsch 40, Grace Winker 42, Haily Sojka 45, Lisa Oberding 46.
PRAIRIE (209): Taylor Utter 42, Emily Machula 50, Emily Perrin 56, Sammie Farmer 61.
