Cedar Valley Christian - Girls Basketball

Wilson leads Cedar Valley girls to win

SPRINGVILLE – The Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team ralled from a three-point halftime deficit to beat Prince of Peace, 51-39, in a Tri-Rivers Conference game Tuesday.

The Huskies trailed 21-18 at halftime, but roared back in the second half and improved to 4-7.

Candace Wilson scored 16 points with nine rebounds and five assists to lead Cedar Valley Christian. Maggie Cach added 14 points and Megan Slagle scored 11 points with three 3-pointers.

Wilson has big game for CVC girls

WYOMING - Candace Wilson turned in a big game for the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team in a tough 45-43 loss to Midland on Friday night.

Wilson finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Huskies (3-7). Molly Hembera contributed 13 points for Cedar Valley.

Rylee Andreson scored 15 points for Midland (4-7).

Cedar Valley led at halftime, 23-15.

Wilson lifts CVC girls by Lisbon

LISBON – Candace Wilson poured in 28 points and led the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team to a 49-33 road win Tuesday at Lisbon.

Molly Hembera had six points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Huskies. Emma Slagle had six points, four assists and three steals. Maggie Cach also scored six points.

Cedar Valley Christian improved to 3-6. Lisbon fell to 1-8.

Wilson wins Metro Spotlight Award

Candace Wilson of Cedar Valley Christian is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Wilson, a senior, averaged 20 points in three games for the Cedar Valley basketball team last week and is averaging 15.1 points for the season.

The Huskies lost their first five games of the year before winning back-to-back contests last week. Wilson collected 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in a 44-30 victory over English Valleys on Monday, then followed with a 23-point outing in a 52-40 triumph over GMG on Thursday.

CVC girls topped by Cal-Wheatland

WHEATLAND – The Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team had its winning streak ended at two games with a 73-46 loss to Calamus-Wheatland on Friday.

Candace Wilson scored 25 points for the Huskies, Molly Hembera had eight points and five rebounds, and Maggie Cach had six points and also grabbed five rebounds.

Cedar Valley Christian fell to 2-6.
