Cedar Valley Christian - Boys Soccer

Cedar Valley soccer team falls, 5-1

Arturo Melendez scored the first goal for the Cedar Valley Christian soccer team Friday as a member of the Iowa High School Athletic Association, but it wasn't nearly enough for a victory.

Iowa Mennonite defeated the Huskies, 5-1, at the Tuma Soccer Complex.

Jon Landis fired a shot on goal for Cedar Valley and IMS goal keeper Ben Brenneman deflected it to the feet of Melendez, who planted the ball in the goal.

Matt Libby, Justin Boller, Peyton Thompson, Chris Pere and Dillon Bender scored for Iowa Mennonite.

Will Muhlbach made 21 saves for Cedar Valley (0-2). The shot by Landis and the rebound by Melendez were Cedar Valley's only shots on goal.
