Huskies go 1-3 at GMG Invitational

GARWIN - Cedar Valley Christian finished with a 1-3 record Saturday at the GMG Invitational volleyball tournament.

The Huskies lost 2-1 to HLV and Waterloo Christian, and 2-0 to BGM. They beat GMG, 2-1.

HLV beat CVC 21-23, 21-18, 15-7. Lindsey Cach and Jessie Walsh had four kills each. Taylor Fields had six digs Maria Sequeira had five digs.

Huskies score 1st points of season

SPRINGVILLE -- Springville turned two pass interceptions and a punt return into 21 first-quarter points and rolled over Cedar Valley Christian, 68-6, Friday night in an 8-player football game.

Springville (3-0, 2-0) ran up a 42-0 lead after one quarter and led 61-0 at halftime.

Cedar Valley Christian (0-3, 0-2) scored its first points of the season on the last play of the game, a 47-yard touchdown pass from Spencer Zielke to Arturo Melendez.

CVC spikers tripped by BGM

BROOKLYN --Cedar Valley Christian's volleyball team went on the road Thursday and was upended by BGM in four sets.

BGM won, 25-18, 25-18, 17-25, 25-10.

Lindsey Cach and Izzy Hoffman had four kills each, and Maria Sequeira had six assists for the Huskies. Taylor Fields had 12 digs and Izzy Hoffman had seven.

"The girls played well tonight," Cedar Valley Coach Jeff Pospisil said. "Once again they have shown that they can be competitive and play with anybody."

Huskies top MFL MarMac in volleyball

DELHI - The Cedar Valley Christian volleyball team defeated MFL MarMac, 21-7, 21-13, during a quadrangular meet in Delhi Tuesday night.

Taylor Fields had five aces in the victory for the Huskies.

Cedar Valley Christian lost its other matches in the meet, falling 21-18, 21-13 to Maquoketa Valley and losing 21-12, 21-10 to Tipton.

Lindsey Cach had four kills and Jessie Walsh collected four assists against Tipton.

Walsh leads CVC at Prince of Peace tournament

CLINTON - Jessie Walsh of Cedar Valley Christian was named to the all-tournament team at the Prince of Peace volleyball meet in Clinton Saturday.

The Huskies finished with a 1-4 record in the tournament with the highlight a 15-21, 21-15, 15-12 victory over Unity Christian. Lindsey Cach had seven kills and Walsh collected six assists in the win.

Cedar Valley lost to Prince of Peace, 21-17, 21-11. Cach had four kills in that match. Taylor McElree and Elena Betsworth had four digs.

The Huskies also lost to Preston (21-6, 21-8), Wilton (21-17, 21-16) and Anamosa (21-8, 21-5).
