Redmond ties NCAA mark as Coe sweeps

INDIANOLA - Coe junior Michael Redmond tied an NCAA Division III record Saturday when he hit two triples in the same inning.

Redmond, a Linn-Mar grad, accomplished the feat in the fourth inning of a 9-0 victory over Simpson in the first game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader in Indianola.

Coe also won the second game, 17-6, as Craig Konrardy went 6-for-6 with five RBIs.

Redmond became the seventh player in NCAA D3 history to collect two triples in one inning. It was part of a big doubleheader for the center fielder, who went 3-for-4 in the first game and 3-for-5 with four runs scored in the nightcap.

Reuter tosses shutout as Coe sweeps

INDIANOLA - AJ Reuter tossed a four-hit shutout as Coe blanked Simpson, 3-0, in the first game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader in Indianola Friday.

The Kohawks took the second game, 9-2, to sweep the doubleheader.

The victories lifted Coe to 16-9 overall and 8-8 in the conference. Simpson fell to 6-17 overall and 2-10 in the league.

Reuter (2-1) struck out five batters and did not walk anyone in his shutout. The Kohawks got only four hits in the game themselves, but they pushed across two runs in the fifth inning and added another marker in the seventh. Michael Redmond scored two runs.

Michael Goerdt went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs for Coe in the nightcap. Craig Konrardy was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored. Cole Tomlinson had two hits and Alec Zwanziger scored two runs.

Coe baseball socks Monmouth, 19-6

MONMOUTH, Ill. - AJ Reuter, Jack Hoffmann and Ben Jacobson belted home runs and combined to drive in 10 runs Tuesday as Coe dumped Monmouth College, 19-6, in seven innings at Glasgow Field in Monmouth, Ill.

Reuter went 2-for-5 with four RBIs. Hoffman also had four RBIs. Jacobson finished with two RBIs.

Grant Henning went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored for the Kohawks. Cole Tomlinson was 3-for-4. Craig Konrardy and Jory Heckenberg had two hits.

Coe raised its record to 14-9. Monmouth fell to 7-12.

Goerdt helps Kohawks split with Luther

DECORAH - Michael Goerdt went 6-for-9 at the plate Saturday to help Coe split an Iowa Conference doubleheader with Luther in Decorah.

Luther won the first game, 3-2. The Kohawks responded with an 18-hit attack for a 13-8 verdict in the nightcap.

The split left Coe 13-9 overall and 6-8 in the conference. Luther is 10-10 and 5-5.

Goerdt went 4-for-6 in the second game. Grant Henning was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Craig Konrardy, AJ Reuter, Jack Hoffmann and Jory Heckenberg had two hits for the Kohawks. Hoffmann and Heckenberg had three RBIs.

Hoffmann helps Coe split with Luther

DECORAH - Jack Hoffmann pitched five strong innings in relief Friday to help Coe trim Luther, 6-4, in the second game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader in Decorah.

Luther won the first game, 5-3.

Hoffmann began the second game as the designated hitter, but he took the mound in the bottom of the third inning with the Kohawks clinging to a 2-1 lead. He pitched five straight shutout innings and left the game after the seventh inning with Coe holding a 3-1 lead.

Hoffmann (3-1) allowed only three hits with one strikeout and no walks.

The Kohawks scored three runs in the top of the ninth for a 6-1 lead. Luther responded with three runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Coe relief pitcher Tony Becker got the final out to end the game.
