Snakebit Kohawks drop pair at Central

PELLA - The baseball gods have been unkind to the Coe Kohawks this season.

The Kohawks have lost eight one-run games this year after dropping a pair of Iowa Conference squeakers at Central College Friday, 2-1 and 5-4.

Coe committed three errors in the opener and both of Central's runs in the ballgame were unearned. Connor Alberhasky (2-4) was the hard-luck loser, allowing six hits in six innings.

AJ Reuter went 2-for-3 for the Kohawks in the first game.

Jack Hoffmann's three-run double helped Coe take a 4-3 leading into the bottom of the eighth inning in the second game, but Central scored two runs in the frame and held on for the victory. Michael Goerdt went 2-for-4 for the Kohawks.

Coe's records fell to 11-17 overall and 7-13 in the league. Central raised its marks to 18-11 and 10-8.

Reuter, Redmond spark Kohawks to win

GRINNELL - AJ Reuter and former Linn-Mar standout Michael Redmond went 3-for-5 Tuesday as Coe defeated Grinnell, 7-3, in a non-conference baseball game at Pioneer Park in Grinnell.

Reuter collected a double, home run and three RBIs.

Cole Tomlinson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Craig Konrardy went 2-for-2 with a double. Ben Larison scored two runs.

Ben Jacobson, Tony Becker, Jack Hoffmann and Jacob Schletzbaum combined on a five-hitter for the Kohawks (11-15). Jacobson got the win.

Coe splits baseball doubleheader with Loras

DUBUQUE — Craig Konrardy went 5-for-6 and drove in four runs as Coe College belted Loras, 12-2, in the second game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader in Dubuque on Saturday.

Loras won the first game, 6-5, on a grand slam homer by Patrick Walsh in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Michael Redmond was 4-for-6 with two RBIs for the Kohawks (10-15, 7-11) in the second game. Colton Janssen was 3-for-5, AJ Reuter was 2-for-5 and Cole Tomlinson was 2-for-6 with three RBIs. Michael Golinski (3-0) pitched a complete nine-inning game for Coe.

Reuter went 4-for-4 in the first game, making him 6-for-9 in the twinbill. Redmond was 3-for-3 in Game 1, making him 7-for-9 in the doubleheader. Michael Goerdt was 2-for-3.

Loras finished the day at 13-10 overall and 11-5 in the league.

Coe baseball team swept by Loras

DUBUQUE — The Coe College baseball team collected only five hits in each game Friday and dropped an Iowa Conference doubleheader at Loras, 6-3 and 4-2.

Brett Slager had two RBIs for the Kohawks in the first game. Thomas Shaedel had two hits for Coe in the nightcap.

The Kohawks fell to 9-14 overall and 6-10 in the league. Loras raised its marks to 12-9 and 10-4.

Kohawks split with No.25 Buena Vista


Cal Kragenbrink hit a home run and Jack Hoffmann pitched five strong innings as Coe College trimmed No.25 Buena Vista, 4-2, in the first game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader at Daniels Park in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.

Buena Vista won the second game, 6-5.

Michael Goerdt went 2-for-3 and Thomas Gandolfi drove in two runs for the Kohawks (9-12, 6-8) in the first game. Hoffmann allowed only three hits and two runs during his stint on the mound. Jeremy Santiago got the final out for the save.

AJ Reuter and Goerdt went 2-for-4 in the second game for Coe.

Buena Vista is 19-5 overall and 8-4 in the league.
