Coe men tie mark in 92-90 loss

CHICAGO - The Coe men's basketball team tied a school record with fifteen 3-pointers Saturday, but the Kohawks needed a 16th triple at the buzzer to collect the victory.

They didn't get it.

Coe lost a shootout in Chicago to North Park, 92-90, despite all those 3-pointers.

Matt Vondehaar misfired on a 3-pointer at the buzzer that could have won the game for the Kohawks (4-3).

Lincoln Vorba made five 3-pointers and led Coe with 19 points. He gave the Kohawks a 90-87 lead with 1:42 remaining, but North Park (4-2) scored the last five points of the game.

Coe is double-trouble for Mustangs

Amazing. Phenomenal. Dangerous.

The Coe Kohawks are not a boastful group of guys, but those are some of the superlatives they used to describe their performance against Mount Mercy in a men's basketball game Tuesday Night at Eby Fieldhouse.

The Kohawks saw three players finish with double-doubles as they posted an impressive 95-82 victory over the Mustangs in a battle of collegiate neighbors from northeast Cedar Rapids.

The Kohawks featured crisp ball movement, terrific shooting, strong rebounding and solid defense.

"Absolutely amazing," said Marshall Shedeck, who finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. "This is probably the first game we've played where everything seemed to be clicking."

Matt Vonderhaar collected 27 points and 14 rebounds as the Kohawks lifted their record to 4-2. Point guard Jake Timm finished with 12 rebounds and 10 assists as he expertly directed the club.
