Anderson takes 2nd at regional tennis

ST. PETER, Minn. - Brady Anderson of Coe placed second at the ITA Midwest Regional tennis tournament Sunday in St. Peter, Minn.

Anderson, a Linn-Mar grad, bumped off No. 1 seed Jake Humphreys of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1, in the semifinals Sunday morning.

Anderson lost to No. 2 seed Mohaned Al-Houni of Gustavus Adolphus, 6-2, 6-2, in the finals Sunday afternoon.

Anderson, who was seeded No. 4, won six straight matches in the regional tournament before falling short in the championship match.

Anderson makes semis of regional tennis

ST. PETER, Minn. - Brady Anderson of Coe College will face top-seeded Jake Humphreys of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the semifinals of the ITA Midwest Regional tennis tournament Saturday morning in St. Peter, Minn.

Anderson, a sophomore from Linn-Mar, is seeded No. 4 in the tournament. He won both of his matches Saturday, giving him a 5-0 record in the tournament so far. He outlasted ninth-seeded Grant Thompson of Wisconsin-Whitewater in a tiebreaker in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 0-6, 7-6.

The championship match in men's singles is scheduled for Sunday at noon.

Anderson and Josh Pudlo of Coe lost in the quarterfinals of men's doubles Saturday to Humphreys and Michael Tries of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 8-2.

Coe netters advance at ITA regional

ST. PETER, Minn. – Five Coe College men’s tennis players remained alive after the first day of competition in the ITA Regional tournament Friday on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.

Fourth-seeded Brady Anderson and No. 17 seed Alex Bernt advanced to the Round of 16 in singles play with three wins.

Anderson and Josh Pudlo, seeded No. 7 in doubles, advanced to the Round of 32 for the Kohawks, as did Nate Ackert and Zack Decker.

Anderson nets Iowa Conference title

WATERLOO - Coe sophomore Brady Anderson defeated teammate Ryan Hickman in the championship match of the Iowa Conference tennis tournament Saturday at Byrnes Park in Waterloo.

Anderson won the first set, 6-4, and Hickman retired during the second set.

Chad Moklestad and Josh Pudio of Coe lost to Trent Schneider and Kyle Appel of Luther, 8-4, in the doubles finals.

Sprinkel's Coe career ends with loss

MASON, Ohio - Coe senior Noah Sprinkel dropped a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 decision to Emory's Alex Ruderman in the opening round of the NCAA Division III tennis tournament on Thursday.

This was the 13th time a Coe men's tennis player Kohawk had been invited to the NCAA National Singles Championships and the third-straight year for Sprinkel. He joins Jon Turbett, Johnny Watson and Nick Barnes as the only Kohawks to earn multiple invitations to the event.

Sprinkel finished this season with a 13-4 singles record. The three-time Iowa Conference MVP finished with a 79-22 singles record for his career.
