Sewera prevents Wartburg wrestling sweep

WAVERLY – Farai Sewera was the lone winner for the No. 17 Coe College wrestling team in a 35-3 loss to top-ranked Wartburg on Friday.

Sewera, ranked No. 2 at 165 pounds, earned a 9-2 decision over Wartburg’s Nick Michael for his 15th-consecutive win.

Coe wrestlers go 2-1 at conference duals

INDIANOLA – The Coe College wrestling team went 2-1 at the Iowa Conference Duals on Saturday at Cowles Fieldhouse.

The ninth-ranked Kohawks lost to No. 19 Luther College 20-16, beat No. 25 Loras College 25-15 and beat Simpson College 36-13.

Four Coe wrestlers went undefeated in the tournament.

Farai Sewera had a pin, a major decision and a decision at 165 pounds. Ryan Harrington had a pin and two decisions at 174.

Donnie Horner claimed two major decisions and a decision at 197. Jan Rosenburg won two decisions and a forfeit at 125.

Augustana nips No.9 Coe matmen

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Augustana Vikings trimmed ninth-ranked Coe, 19-18, in a college wrestling meet Thursday at the Carver Center in Rock Island, Ill.

The teams split their 10 matches, 5-5, with each squad collecting 18 match points, but Augustana had the only pin and was awarded an extra point on criteria for the 19-18 victory.

Farai Sewara (165) had a technical fall for Coe. Donnie Horner (197) posted a major decision. Luke Kremer (141), Josh Donkle (149) and Ryan Harrington (174) won regular decisions for the Kohawks.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Augustana Vikings trimmed ninth-ranked Coe, 19-18, in a college wrestling meet Thursday at the Carver Center in Rock Island, Ill.

The teams split their 10 matches, 5-5, with each squad collecting 18 match points, but Augustana had the only pin and was awarded an extra point on criteria for the 19-18 victory.

Farai Sewara (165) had a technical fall for Coe. Donnie Horner (197) posted a major decision. Luke Kremer (141), Josh Donkle (149) and Ryan Harrington (174) won regular decisions for the Kohawks.

Coe wrestlers finish eighth at duals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Farai Sewera and Ryan Harrington each won two matches as the Coe College wrestling team as the Kohawks finished eighth at the NWCA National Duals on Friday.

Eighth-ranked Coe lost to No. 6 Wisconsin-LaCrosse 29-12 in the consolation semifinals and lost to No. 5 Mount Union 28-11 in the seventh-place match.

Sewera, ranked second at 165 points, won a 6-3 decision over Wisconsin-LaCrosse’s Tyler Schneider, and won a 5-3 decision over Mount Union’s Nick Hendershot.

Harrington, ranked fourth at 174 points, won a 5-1 decision over Wisconsin-LaCrosse’s Sean O’Neil, and won a 15-0 technical fall over Mount Union’s Nick Miller.
