Harrington, Rosenberg lead Coe matmen

Ryan Harrington and Jan Rosenberg both went 3-0 Saturday for the 14th-ranked Coe wrestling team in Iowa Conference duals at Eby Fieldhouse.

Harrington, ranked No. 1 at 174, collected two technical falls and a pin. Rosenberg had two pins and a regular decision.

Coe defeated Loras and Simpson, but lost to 12th-ranked Luther.

Farai Sewera, who is ranked No. 1 at 165 pounds, did not wrestle for the Kohawks.

Luther won all three of its meets Saturday.

No. 14 Coe grapplers pin Augustana

The 14th-ranked Coe wrestling team clobbered Augustana, 32-6, Friday at Eby Fieldhouse.

The Kohawks won eight of 10 matches and improved to 8-3.

Top-ranked Farai Sewera and Ryan Harrington each won big decisions for Coe. Sewera had a 17-4 major decision over Trace Timmons at 165 pounds, and Harrington had a 19-0 technical fall in 3 minutes, 36 seconds over Nick Torres at 174.

Creighton Fox had a pin at 285 for Coe and Trey Schuler had a technical fall at 141.

Augustana fell to 5-6.

Coe wrestlers finish 2-2 at Duals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 12th-ranked Coe College wrestling team lost in the second round and was eliminated by No. 17 Luther College in the consolation third round at the NWCA National Duals on Thursday.

The Kohawks opened the tournament with a 34-15 win over Coast Guard, but they lost to No. 7 Concordia-Moorhead 21-17 in the second round. Coe beat Merchant Marine 30-11 in the consolation second round, but lost to Luther 23-15 in the third round.

Top-ranked Farai Sewera had four wins at 165 pounds for Coe, including a pin, two technical falls and a major decision. Second-ranked Ryan Harrington had a technical fall and a decision at 174 and picked up a pin wrestling at 184.

Coe finishes 3-1 at Desert Duals

LAS VEGAS - The No. 10 Coe wrestling team downed three foes Monday befofe losing to a fourth by criteria in the Desert Duals.

Coe downed No. 6 Alma, 23-16, then took down No. 16 Baldwin Wallace, 19-16 and unranked St. John's 39-12. The Kohawks' fourth match with No. 14 Johnson & Wales ended in a 19-19 tie, but Johnson & Wales was awarded one more point for having the most falls.

Top-ranked Farai Sewera had two pins, a technical fall and a decision in winning all four of his matchces at 165.

Harrington wins title for Kohawks

INDIANOLA - Ryan Harrington of Coe won the 174-pound title at the Simpson Invitational wrestling tournament in Indianola Saturday.

Harrington defeated Vicente Guerrero of Graceland, 8-0, in the finals.

Jake Voss (157) and Josh Allen (184) placed second for the Kohawks. Mike Gussarson (133) finished third.
