Mount Mercy - Men's Basketball

Mount Mercy trimmed by Clarke, 94-90

A frustrating season for the Mount Mercy men's basketball team  continued Monday night at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

The Mustangs lost to Clarke, 94-90, in a Heart of America Conference  game to drop another tight affair.

The setback left Mount Mercy at 9-11 overall and 4-10 in the  conference. Clarke raised its records to 15-6 overall and 11-4 in the  league.

RoyShawn Webb hit five 3-pointers and finished with 26 points, six  assists and six rebounds for Mount Mercy. Street McIlravy also made  five 3-pointers and scored 23 points. Bailey Basala added 17 points  and Dennis McKinney had 16.

Keith Johnson popped in 27 points for Clarke and Darius Lasley notched 23.

Mount Mercy - Men's Basketball

Mount Mercy men fall in OT

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Mount Mercy men's basketball team lost to  Evangel, 91-89, in overtime Saturday in a Heart of America Conference  game in Springfield.

Streeter McIlravy popped in six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 27  points for the Mustangs (9-10, 4-9). Bailey Basala finished with a  double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. RoyShawn Webb  contributed 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

Evangel raised its records to 12-8 overall and 8-6 in the conference.

The Mount Mercy women's basketball team lost to Evangel in the first  game of the doubleheader, 77-44. The Mustangs trailed 18-3 after the  first quarter.

Mount Mercy - Men's Basketball

Mustangs trimmed by No. 3 Statesmen

The Mount Mercy Mustangs gave third-ranked William Penn a good battle  Monday night before falling, 93-89, in a Heart of America Conference  game at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

The Mustangs pumped in 20 3-pointers to give themselves a chance  at pulling a major upset, including a triple by Royshawn Webb that  pulled the home team within 92-89 with 45 seconds left, but the rally  ended there.

Bailey Basala and Streeter McIlravy both canned five 3-pointers and  scored 19 points for Mount Mercy (9-9, 4-8). Webb finished with 17  points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. Davion  Watson scored 15 points for the Mustangs. Dennis McKinney chipped in  with 11 points and six assists.

Kevin Blaylock provided 19 points and 10 rebounds for William Penn,  which is enjoying a terrific season at 17-1 overall and 11-1 in the  conference. Five Statesmen scored in double figures, matching the  Mustangs.

William Penn topped Mount Mercy on the backboards, 52-36.

Mount Mercy - Men's Basketball

Mustangs enjoy home cooking at Hennessey

There have been two different Mount Mercy men's basketball teams this season.

The team that plays its home games at the Hennessey Recreation Center  has a 7-2 record and has outscored its opponents by an average of 13  points per game.

The Mount Mercy team that plays on the road has a 2-6 record and has  been outscored by an average of 11.1 points per game.

Thankfully for the Mustangs, they played at home Wednesday night.

Dennis McKinney popped in seven 3-pointers and scored 26 points as  Mount Mercy belted Culver-Stockton, 97-64, in a Heart of America  Conference game at Hennessey.

Coach Aaron Jennings is well-aware of the discrepancy between his  team's performances at home and away.

"This conference is just so crazy," he said. "It's not just us. It's  across the board in the conference. Home and away.

Mount Mercy - Men's Basketball

Mustangs ambushed by MidAmerica Nazarene

OLATHE, Kan. - The Mount Mercy men's basketball team was pounded by  MidAmerica Nazarene, 103-74, in a Heart of America Conference game at  Bell Family Arena Monday.

The game was postponed two days due to inclement weather and hazardous  travel conditions Saturday.

Patrick Cairns scored 26 points off the bench to lead MidAmerica  Nazarene. Trey Brown popped in five 3-pointers and 22 points for the  winners, who had five players in double figures. Dakota Quinn  collected a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds for  MidAmerica Nazarene (11-5, 7-3).

RoyShawn Webb led Mount Mercy with 16 points. Dennis McKinney scored  14 points and DJ Johnson added 10 markers for the Mustangs (8-8, 3-7).

MidAmerica Nazarene scorched the nets for 56.9 percent, hitting 41 of  72 shots.
