Mustangs pepper Coe in men's soccer

The Mount Mercy Mustangs uncorked 36 shots Friday and defeated Coe, 4-1, in a men's soccer match at Clark Field.

The Kohawks (1-5) managed only five shots in the contest.

Marco Fichtner had two goals for Mount Mercy (6-1). Monveir Moodie scored on a corner kick and Kevin Farquharson also connected for the Mustangs. Rodrigo Buendia had an assist.

Masine Zakaria scored for Coe on a penalty kick.

Fichtner's goal lifts Mount Mercy

ORANGE CITY - Marco Fichtner scored on a penalty kick to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Mount Mercy men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Northwestern College in Orange City Wednesday.

Northwestern scored first in the game, but Kevon Farquharson tied the match in the first half with an assist from Hieu Ngo.

Goar Kempf-Heitlinger made nine saves for the Mustangs (5-1). Northwestern fell to 3-1-1.

Mount Mercy men boot Mount Marty

YANKTON, S.D. - Marco Govedarica, Hieu Ngo, Jordan Torquato and Haris Hadzalic scored goals Sunday as the Mount Mercy men's soccer team blanked Mount Marty, 4-0, at a match in Yankton, S.D.

Kevon Farquharson, Torquato and Kory Boebel collected assists as the Mustangs raised their record to 4-1.

Tomas Zajfert made six saves in goal for Mount Mercy.

Mount Mercy men blank Benedictine

Yinka Ajibola, Mohamed Hamed and Jordan Torquato scored goals Saturday as the Mount Mercy men's soccer club shut out Benedictine, 3-0, at the Lower Kingston field.

Hamed, Eric Pfau and Marko Govedarica collected assists for the Mustangs, who raised their record to 3-1.

Mount Mercy out-shot Benedictine, 15-5, including 10-2 on corner kicks. Benedictine did not have any shots on goal.

Waldorf tops Mustangs in men's soccer

FOREST CITY - Waldorf jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead and held on for a 5-2 men's soccer win over Mount Mercy on Tuesday night.

Kevon Farquharson scored on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute and Mohamed Hamed scored an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute, cutting the gap to 3-2 before the hosts scored a pair in the final two minutes to seal the victory.

Mount Mercy is now 2-1.
