Mustangs finish 3-1 in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team won both of its matches Saturday to finish with a 3-1 record at the Cardinal Stritch Tournament in Milwaukee.

The Mustangs blanked Goshen College, 25-14, 25-19, 25-21, and whipped Governors State University, 25-13, 25-14, 25-18.

Caiti Peterson topped a balanced attack for Mount Mercy with 45 assists and 17 digs in the two matches. Maddie Bell had 20 kills, Becca Thomson 19 kills, Olivia Coe 18 kills and Alyssa Weldon 13 kills.

Mustangs split initial volleyball meets

MILWAUKEE - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team split its two matches at the Cardinal Stritch Tournament in Milwaukee Friday to begin the 2018 campaign.

The Mustangs blanked Saint Mary's, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18, in their first match of the season and were nipped by Cardinal Stritch, 25-23, 23-25,  25-23, 25-23, in their second outing.

Kayla Daggett collected 76 assists in the two matches for Mount Mercy. Alyssa Weldon finished with 29 kills and Maddie Bell had 27.

Lauren Stopko had 37 digs in the two matches. Olivia Makinen blocked nine shots.

Mustangs fall at NAIA volleyball meet

SIOUX CENTER - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team was swept by Dordt, 25-19, 25-22, 25-19, in the opening round of the NAIA national tournament in Sioux Center on Saturday.

The Mustangs finished the season with a 32-13 record.

Cori Peterzalek led Mount Mercy with 13 kills. Leslie Hoffmann had nine kills, Olivia Coe six and Becca Thompson four.

Abbie Perez had 13 assists for the Mustangs and Hannah Whitley added 12.

Lauren Stopko contributed 12 digs.

   

Mount Mercy - Volleyball

Mount Mercy volleyball makes semifinals

CLINTON - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team won both of its matches at the Association of Independent Institutions league tournament Friday in five sets and will play in the semifinals Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs nipped Clarke, 22-25, 25-20, 28-26, 12-25, 15-11, in their first match and trimmed Johnson and Wales, 25-17, 22-25, 15-25, 25-22, 15-11, in their second match in pool play.

Mount Mercy (31-11) will face College of the Ozarks in the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with the championship match scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Kehl Arena in Clinton.

Mustangs spike Clarke in 4

Cori Peterzalek had 15 kills and 27 digs to lead Mount Mercy to a 26-24, 20-25, 25-18, 28-26 volleyball victory over Clarke Wednesday night at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

Leslie Hoffmann added 15 kills and Becca Thomson 10 for the Mustangs (29-11). Lauren Stopko and Allie McQuiston added 15 digs each and Thomson had 14.

Hannah Whitley had 23 set assists while Abbie Perez finished with 14.

Clarke (24-8) was led by Emily Wineinger with 13 kills. Kara Russell had 23 assists and 17 digs
