Trojans defeat J-Hawks

Rylea Bennett led the Jefferson girls bowling team in a 2,736 to 2,430 loss to Waterloo East on Friday at May City Lanes.

Alissa Classen led the Trojans with a 438 series.

J-Hawk girls win Prairie bowling title

The Cedar Rapids Jefferson girls bowling team caught fire in the championship round of the Prairie Baker Tournament Saturday at Lancer Lanes.

The J-Hawks qualified seventh out of eight teams for the championship bracket, but they captured three straight matches in the playoffs to grab top honors in the prestigious field.

Jefferson defeated West Delaware in the quarterfinals and knocked off Iowa City High in the semifinals. The J-Hawks beat Prairie in the finals by winning 2-of-3 baker games. Prairie was the high qualifier for the championship round.

Rylea Bennett, Holly Miller, Rachael Daugherty, Kattie Smith, Hailey Kimble and Allie Schirmer led Jefferson to the title.

Prairie girls top Jeff

Rylee Blood’s 414 series led the Prairie girls bowling team to a 2,639 to 2,412 win over Jefferson on Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Rylea Bennett had a 362 series for the J-Hawks.

Shania Christensen had a 408 series to lead the Washington girls bowling team to a narrow 2,395 to 2,392 win over Jefferson on Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Rylea Bennett had a 371 series for the J-Hawks.

Jefferson rally falls short against City

The Jefferson girls bowling team took a lead early in the Baker round, but could not hold on against Iowa City High Tuesday at May City Bowl, losing 2,524 to 2,466 to open the season.

Rylea Bennett led the J-Hawks with a 406 series.

Shyneice Cirillo led the Little Hawks with a 403 series.
