J-Hawk girls overpower Linn-Mar

Allie Trcka rolled a high game of 254 and Courtney Moore a 454 series to power Jefferson past Linn-Mar, 2899-2503, Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls bowling meet at May City Bowl.

The J-Hawks (11-3, 9-1 MVC) had three bowlers torch the lanes with 400-plus series. Trcka rolled a 435 and Nicole Werling a 405. They also had five 200-plus games. Nicole Werling shot a 215, Jenna Alff a 210.

Valerie Loudenback fired a 241 high game and 399 series to lead Linn-Mar (6-7, 5-5).

LINN-MAR (2503): Nicole McMahon 153-285, Stacey Schwarzenstein 165-312, Mckenzie Routhe 180-335, Valerie Loudenback 241-399, Amy Pickering 189-356.

JEFFERSON (2899): Nicole Werling 215-405, Jenna Alff 210-360, Courtney Moore 253-454, Allie Trcka 254-435, Nicole Petersen 189-344.

J-Hawks run MVC mark to 9-0

Courtney Moore had the hot hand for the Jefferson girls bowling team Friday afternoon at May City Bowl. Moore rolled games of 235 and 229 for a 464 series that carried the J-Hawks past Prairie, 2744-2468, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet.

The win kept the J-Hawks (11-2, 9-0 MVC) perfect in the conference. Allie Trcka rolled a 210 game and 377 series, and Nicole Petersen a 213 game and 376 series.

Kate Palmer led Prairie (4-8, 3-6). She rolled a high game of 209 and 364 series.

PRAIRIE (2468): Brittany Meyers 168-314, Niona Bruce 195-365, Brianna Wagner 170-325, Jamie Kadolph 204-358, Kate Palmer 209-364.

JEFFERSON (2744): Nicole Werling 193-349, Courtney Moore 235-464, Allie Trcka 210-377, Nicole Petersen 213-376, Whitnie Jones 183-337.

J-Hawk girls clinch Valley Division title

DUBUQUE -- The Jefferson girls bowlers clinched the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division title Friday when they beat Dubuque Hempstead, 2844-2698.

The win improved Jefferson's record to 10-2 overall and 8-0 in the MVC. The J-Hawks hold a four-match lead over second-place Hempstead (4-4) with three matches left.

Nicole Werling rolled a 246 high game and 407 series and Allie Trcka had games of 202 and 201 for a 403 series for Jefferson.

"It showed a total team effort when some of the higher average players were down a little bit," Jefferson Coach Virg Cerveny said. "I was proud of them."

JEFFERSON (2844): Nicole Werling 246-407, Jenna Alff 195-383, Courtney Moore 181-342, Allie Trcka 202-403, Nicole Petersen 194-349.

J-Hawks rock Cedar Falls to stay unbeaten in MVC

WATERLOO -- Whitnie Jones rolled high game of 242 and a 435 high series to lead Jefferson past Cedar Falls, 2764-1914, Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls bowling meet.

Courtney Moore rolled a 221 high game and 412 series for Jefferson (9-2, 7-0 MVC). The J-Hawks had a nearly 700-pin lead after the first round.

Jones, Petersen, Moore lead Jefferson girls

IOWA CITY -- Whitnie Jones, Courtney Moore and Nicole Petersen had steady days as Jefferson topped Iowa City West 2,618-2169 in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Colonial Lanes.

Whitnie took top honors with a 396 series and a high game of 206. Moore followed with a 392 series and a 214 high game, followed by Petersen with a 388 series and meet-best 219 game.

Allie Volk led Iowa City West with a 176 game and 326 series.
