Cougars rule Valley Division golf

IOWA CITY - The Kennedy Cougars won the Valley Division golf meet by 20 shots Monday at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City.

Davis Sutton, Cole Murdock and Tanner Stewart of Kennedy shared medalist honors at 5-over-par 77 on the University of Iowa course. Conner Koberg of Kennedy tied for fourth with a 79.

The Cougars finished with a four-man score of 310. Linn-Mar placed second at 330. Trevor McCann, Max Thrune and Brent Larson led the Lions at 82.

Mitch Lorenz shoots 36 for Prairie

Mitch Lorenz shot an even-par 36 Thursday to help the Prairie Hawks place second in a Mississippi Valley Conference triangular meet at Twin Pines.

Andrew Kehl fired a 2-under 34 for Dubuque Senior as the Rams won the title.

Nile Happel and Kellen Brown shot 3-over 39's for Jefferson.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. Dubuque Senior 143, 2. Prairie 149, 3. Jefferson 167.

Kennedy claims CRANDIC golf tourney

IOWA CITY - The Kennedy Cougars flexed their muscles at the annual CRANDIC golf tournament at Pleasant Valley in Iowa City Tuesday.

The Cougars claimed four of the top seven spots in the individual standings and won the team championship with a four-man score of 292.

Davis Sutton of Kennedy was the medalist with a 1-under-par 71. Tanner Stewart placed second with a 72, Cole Murdock tied for fifth with a 74 and Conner Koberg placed seventh with a 75 for Kennedy.

The Cougars won the meet by 11 shots over Washington.

Frank Lindwall of Washington and Trevor McCann of Linn-Mar tied for third at 1-over 73. Jake Patterson of Washington tied for fifth at 2-over 74.

Happel paces J-Hawk golfers with 39

WATERLOO - Nile Happel shot a 3-over-par 39 for the Jefferson J-Hawks in a Mississippi Valley Conference golf meet at the Irv Warren course in Waterloo Thursday.

Cedar Falls won the meet. The J-Hawks finished fourth.

TEAM STANDINGS

1. Cedar Falls 155, 2. Waterloo West 159, 3. Western Dubuque 168, 4. Jefferson 173.

JEFFERSON: Nile Happel 39, Adam Van Oort 42, Carter Schmitz 45, Kellen Brown 47, Reid Griffith 47.

Waukee nips Kennedy at Hunters Ridge

The Waukee Warriors spoiled the day for the Kennedy Cougars and everyone else at the Linn-Mar Invitational golf tournament Monday at Hunters Ridge.

Tripp Kinney of Waukee fired a 3-under-par 69 to claim medalist honors and lead the Warriors to the team championship.

Waukee nipped Kennedy, 305-306, for the title.

Cole Murdock of Kennedy finished second in the individual standings with a2-over 74. The Cougars got a 75 from Conner Koberg and a 76 from Davis Sutton, but all their other golfers shot in the 80's.
