C.R. Jefferson soccer team has long day

JOHNSTON — The Cedar Rapids Jefferson boys soccer lost all three of its matches at the Johnston Tournament on Saturday.

The J-Hawks were shut out in all three contests. They lost to second-ranked Johnston (4-0), Urbandale (2-0) and Waukee (8-0).

Comstock lifts No.10 Lions by J-Hawks

Blake Comstock scored the only goal of the game Wednesday night as the 10th-ranked Linn-Mar Lions topped Jefferson, 1-0, in the Class 3A substate semifinals at Linn-Mar.

Ben Johnson collected an assist on Comstock's goal.

Linn-Mar will face No.5 Kennedy in the substate finals Saturday at noon at Kingston Stadium, with the winner advancing to the state soccer tournament.

Ibrahimovic goals power Prairie past J-Hawks

Nermin Ibrahimovic scored twice to lead No.6 Prairie past Jefferson, 2-0, Wednesday in boys soccer at lower Kingston.

Prairie improved to 11-4.

Jefferson is 2-10.

No.1 Cougars kick J-Hawks, 3-0

The top-ranked Kennedy boys soccer team raised its record to 11-0 Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over Jefferson at Kingston Stadium.

Killian Magee began the scoring off a corner kick in the eighth minute from J.J. Reinhart. Eric Bertroche scored in the 44th minute with assists from Ryan Walker and Magee.

Mitch Bobbin converted a penalty kick in the 52nd minute to finish the scoring.

Kennedy has an 8-0 mark in Mississippi Valley Conference games.

Jeff boys fall at Iowa City High, 4-1

IOWA CITY - The Jefferson boys were beaten by Iowa City High, 4-1, Tuesday in boys soccer.

Austin Schumacher scored a goal and Jacob Chiza had an assist for the J-Hawks.
