J-Hawks fall to Cedar Falls, 5-1

CEDAR FALLS - Cedar Falls whipped Jefferson, 5-1, Thursday in boys soccer.

Joseph Petersen scored Jefferson's goal off an assist from Reece Suckow.

Frisch scores pair of goals in win over J-Hawks

Isaac Frisch scored two goals and Connor Ramlo had two assists to lead Class 2A No.2 Xavier past Jefferson, 3-0, Tuesday in boys soccer at Xavier.

Frisch scored his first goal just four minutes into the game, taking a pass from Ramlo.

The game held at 1-0 through the rest of the first half.

Frisch scored again in the third minute of the second half, this time off an assist from Dan Cowden.

Jefferson was forced to open up its defense and Xavier took advantage. Ramlo started the attack with a pass to Frisch on the wing and Frisch crossed the ball to Eli Smith for the goal and a 3-0 lead.

Lions rout J-Hawks on the soccer pitch

Ben Johnson scored four goals and an assist to lead Linn-Mar to a 9-0 rout of Jefferson in a boys soccer match Thursday at Linn-Mar.

Atakilti Berhe, Brian Allsup, Jason Gingrich, Kevin Simons and Hunter Wong also scored goals for the Lions.

Jared Slagle and Jordan Webb each had a pair of assists. Blake Comstock and Simons also had assists.

J-Hawks blank Davenport North, 4-0

DAVENPORT - The Cedar Rapids Jefferson boys soccer team shut out Davenport North, 4-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday in Davenport.

Nick Rocha, Reece Suckow, Jacob Chiza and Joseph Peterson scored goals for the J-Hawks.

Patience, Feltes are top MVC goalkeepers

Andrew Patience  (pictured here) of Jefferson and Ben Feltes of Kennedy have been named the top goalkeepers in the Mississippi Valley Conference this season in boys soccer.

Patience was named the top keeper in the Valley Division and Feltes was selected as the top keeper in the Mississippi Division.

Patience edged Feltes on the all-Metro soccer team, with Patience honored on the first team and Feltes placed on the second team.

Austin Bergstrom of Washington, Matt Shannon of Kennedy, Connor Johnson of Linn-Mar, Jacob Bjornsen of Washington and Killian Magee of Kennedy were named first team all-conference in the Mississippi Division.

Austin Reutzel of Prairie, Colyn Snyder of Prairie, Ali Al-Yasseri of Jefferson, Chad Gilmer of Xavier and Tom Bales of Xavier were named first team all-conference in the Valley Division.

Bergstrom and Al-Yasseri were named the Metro co-Players of the Year. John O'Connor of Jefferson was named the Metro Coach of the Year.
