JV outshoots varsity in Cougars' loss

IOWA CITY -- Kennedy shot its best games in the junior varsity match and its varsity was routed by Iowa City High, 3015-2667, Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Colonial Lanes.

Jared Staub shot games of 217-214 for a team-high 431 series and Troy McKiernan had a 222 high game for the Kennedy varsity (4-6, 1-4 MVC).  Jack Beaumont shot a 258 high game and 483 series for City High (4-5, 2-3).

Corey Williams shot a 276 high game for Kennedy in the JV meet. Justin Smith had games of 232-234 for a 466 series.  The Cougars won, 2752-2421.

Kennedy - Boys Bowling

Cougars 4th at Prairie Baker meet

Kennedy won two matches to reach the winners' bracket semifinals, but ended up fourth at the Prairie Baker Invitational Dec. 18 at Lancer Lanes.

Prairie won the tournament, which used a Baker format. Each team’s five bowlers would roll alternate frames (e.g., the first bowler would roll frames one and six, the second two and seven, etc.). Matches were best of three.

Casey Sheets leads Cougars to 1st win

Casey Sheets rolled games of 203 and 226 for a high series of 429 that led Kennedy to its first win of the season. The Cougars beat Iowa City West, 2870-2725, Friday (Dec. 17) in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ bowling meet at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Troy McKiernan and Nathan Boebel also rolled 200-plus games for the Cougars (1-3).

Zach Clemence rolled a high game of 246 for Iowa City West (2-2).

Hawks hold off Cougars’ late charge

Prairie built a 122-pin lead in the first round to hold off Kennedy’s charge in the Baker round and beat the Cougars, 2966-2955, Friday (Dec. 10) in an MVC match at Lancer Lanes.

Prairie had three bowlers break the 400 series barrier in the first round. Chase Becket rolled a 244-215 for high series at 459. Sean Steichen had a 231 high game and 441 series, Jeremy Cline a 404 series.

Corey Williams had high game (221) and series (415) for Kennedy.

Kennedy - Boys Bowling

Washington boys nip Kennedy

 Washington defeated Kennedy by a score of 2932-2830 in boys’ bowling at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center Friday (Dec. 3).

Ryan Bundy led the Warriors with a two-game series of 215-191–406. Troy McKiernan took top honors for Kennedy at 219-193–412.

Washington trailed after the first round, 1926-1887, but outscored Kennedy 1045-904 in the Baker round to win the match.
