Cougars down Hempstead in soccer, 4-2

Four different players scored goals and led No.8 Kennedy past Dubuque Hempstead, 4-2, Tuesday in girls soccer at Kennedy.

Sydney Hayden, Kaela Dickerman, Alyssa Drewelow and Tory Harman scored goals for Kennedy.

Dickerman had two assists and Hayden had an assist.

Kennedy (12-4) closes out the regular season at home Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. against Iowa City West.

Cougars post 2 wins over WDM foes

JOHNSTON - No.8 Kennedy capped a strong weekend performance with a 4-2 win over No.3 West Des Moines Dowling Saturday.

The Cougars also beat West Des Moines Valley, 1-0, Friday night.

Alyssa Drewelow and Emily Feltes each scored two goals against Dowling. Kayla Dickerman and Tory Harman had assists.

Drewelow scored the game's only goal against Valley. Sydney Hayden had the assist.

Harman's 5 goals lead Kennedy past Tigers

WATERLOO - Tory Harman scored five goals to power Kennedy past Cedar Falls, 8-1, Thursday night in girls soccer.

Anna Frerichs had two goals and Morgan Petsche added a goal for the Cougars.

Emily Feltes had two assists. Kaela Dickerman, Jordan Holmes, Sydney Hayden and Alex Paustian also had assists for the Cougars.

Dickerman leads Kennedy's rout of Wahlert

Kaela Dickerman scored three goals to power Kennedy to an 8-3 win over Dubuque Wahlert in girls soccer Tuesday at Kennedy.

Tory Harman had two goals and three assists for the Cougars.

Emily Feltes also scored two goals and Carly Langhurst had a goal.

Dickerman, Langhurst, Jordan Holmes, Morgan Petsche, Abby Helweg and Marci Christianson also had assists.

Armstrong helps Saints kick Cougars

With her top-ranked team trailing Kennedy 1-0 after 40 minutes at home Friday afternoon, Xavier girls soccer coach Bailey Dorrington used it as a teaching tool.

“It’s the first time we’ve been behind at halftime all year,” said the mild-mannered first-year coach. “I told the girls it was a great learning experience and to pretend that we were in the state tournament, where if we lose we’re done.”

The Saints came out on fire after the intermission.

Besides holding the powerful Cougars at bay the rest of the way, they scored four goals in a flurry to win their sixth straight game, 4-1.
