Kennedy netters split in Iowa City

IOWA CITY - The Cedar Rapids Kennedy boys tennis team split its Mississippi Valley Conference meets in Iowa City on Saturday.

The Cougars nipped Iowa City High, 5-4, in the morning and got blanked by powerful Iowa City West, 9-0, in the afternoon.

Riley Galbraith, Arjun Venkatesh, Jimmy Cunningham and Brett Blomberg won their singles matches against the Little Hawks.

Galbraith leads Cougars past Xavier in boys tennis

Riley Galbraith beat Noah Schmall, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles Tuesday to lead Kennedy to a 6-3 win over Xavier in boys tennis at Kennedy.

Galbraith later picked up an assist in Kennedy's 2-0 boys soccer win over Waterloo West.

Kennedy won five of six singles matches to run its record to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the MVC.

Kennedy netters sweep Dubuque schools

DUBUQUE - Riley Galbraith, Jimmy Cunningham, Brett Blomberg, Quinn Jamrock and Mitch Martin won both of their singles matches Tuesday as the Cedar Rapids Kennedy tennis team won its Mississippi Valley Conference meets against Dubuque Hempstead (7-2) and Dubuque Senior (9-0).

Galbraith defeated Nick Johnson of Hempstead, 6-1, 6-3, and took care of Gabe Mozena of Dubuque Senior, 7-6, 6-1, at No.1 singles.

Galbraith leads Cougars' tennis rout of East

Riley Galbraith whipped Ryan Gilbert, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles to fuel Kennedy's 8-1 win over Waterloo East in boys tennis Tuesday at Kennedy.

Galbraith also team with Quinn Jamrock to win a doubles match, 6-2, 6-2.

Riley Galbraith tops singles at Meyer Invitational

Kennedy senior Riley Galbraith won at No. 1 singles at the Dave Meyer Warrior Invitational boys tennis meet Saturday at Vets Tennis Center.

Kennedy's Arjun Venkatesh was second at No. 2 singles, helping the Cougars to a second-place finish in the team standings.

Washington's Reed Rossberger and Grant Kamin finished second at No. 2 doubles and the Warriors were third in the team standings.

Iowa City West claimed firsts at No. 2 singles and No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to win the tournament.
