Kennedy - Girls Tennis

Cougars 2nd at Vance Fuller Invitational

Kennedy had four champs and finished in second place Saturday at its own Vance Fuller Invitational girls tennis tournament at Vets Tennis Center.

Kennedy crowned champions at No. 1 doubles (Sarah Lasecki and Lindsey Minder), No. 2 doubles (Katherine Thompson and Alexa Mitchell), No.1 singles (Lasecki) and No. 4 singles (Mitchell). Minder finished second at No. 2 singles.

Decorah won the four-team tournament. Ottumwa was third and Waterloo West fourth.

Cougars whipped by West at girls state tennis

Iowa City West blanked Kennedy, 5-0, Monday in the first round of the girls Class 2A state team tournament.

The meet was played at Jefferson.

Iowa City West advances to the team tournament final four June 4 at Iowa City.

Cougar girls tennis headed back to state

The Kennedy girls are heading back to the state team tennis tournament.

The Cougars mauled Bettendorf, 5-2, Saturday night for the Class 2A regional title.

Kennedy will play Iowa City West on Tuesday at Jefferson in a first-round state meet tournament meet. The winner advances to the final four June 4 at Iowa City

This marks the ninth time in 12 years Kennedy has qualified for the state team tournament. The Cougars have advanced to the final four eight times.

Kennedy advanced to the regional championship by beating Cedar Falls, 5-0, earlier Saturday. Bettendorf, meanwhile, sqeezed past Xavier, 5-4.

Cougars win singles and doubles at 2A tennis regional

ELDRIDGE -- Kennedy's Jackie Pedersen beat teammate Ashley Schlueter in the singles championship and the Cougars' duo of Sarah Lasecki and Kali Hildebrand took the doubles title Thursday in a Class 2A regional tennis tournament at North Scott High School.

Lasecki and Hildebrand beat the Linn-Mar doubles team of Katie Rakers and Jenna Myers for the title.

First and second-place finishers advance to the state meet June 2-3 at Iowa City.

Kennedy girls down Waterloo West

Jackie Pedersen, Sarah Lasecki, Kali Hildebrand, Katherine Thompson, Ashley Schlueter and Lindsay Minder swept their singles matches Tuesday as Kennedy topped Waterloo West, 8-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Kennedy.

Pedersen blanked Ashlyn Christensen, 10-0, at No.1 singles.
