Lions 'bake' Senior with 300 game

The Linn-Mar boys rolled a perfect 300 in their final Baker game to cap a comeback win over Dubuque Senior, 3061-2935, Friday afternoon in a boys bowling match at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

The Lions trailed by 14 pins after the first round, but reclaimed a slight lead in the first Baker game.

They held a 22-pin lead heading into their fifth and final Baker game, when they rolled 12 straight strikes for a perfect 300. Senior rolled a 196.

Alex Diercks led Linn-Mar in singles with a 429 series. Seth Tegtmeier shot high game for the Lions with a 234.

Alex Diercks rolled a 407 series and Colby Frye a 404 to fir Linn-Mar past Iowa City West, 2864-2588, Friday in boys bowling at CR Bowl.

Diercks had high series in the match and Frye had high game of 226.

Pickering powers Linn-Mar boys bowlers

IOWA CITY - Connor Pickering fired games of 213 and 234 for a 447 series that led Linn-Mar past Iowa City High, 2921-2611, Friday in boys bowling at Colonial Lanes.

Seth Tegtmeier, Colby Frye and Kaleb Foye also cracked the 400 series barrier for Linn-Mar.

Diercks rolls 401 series for Lions

DUBUQUE - Alex Diercks rolled a 401 series for the Linn-Mar Lions Tuesday
during a 2863-2735 setback to Dubuque Hempstead in a Mississippi Valley
Conference meet at Cherry Lanes in Dubuque.

Diercks had the high-game in the meet with a 216. Kyle Wersinger of
Hempstead took top honors with a 420 series.

DES MOINES - Washington sophomore Bryan Cline fired a 279 in his second game to shoot a 503 series and finished second Tuesday at the Class 2A boys state bowling tournament at Plaza Lanes.

Washington was third in the team race and Linn-Mar was fourth, 18 pins behind the Warriors.

Davenport North won the team title with a score of 3633. North's Zach Fries rolled a 300 in his first game and followed with a 255 to win the individual crown with a 555 series.

Prairie's Nick Blood shot a 479 series and tied for seventh.
