Linn-Mar - Boys Soccer

No. 4 Lions knock off Rams, 2-0

DUBUQUE - Brian Allsup and Devin Eby scored goals in the second half Thursday night as No. 4 Linn-Mar defeated Dubuque Senior, 2-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match in Dubuque.

Senior Jared Belin collected his school-record 13th shutout in goal. It was the 14th shutout of the season for the Lions.

Linn-Mar finished the regular season at 15-3 overall and 10-3 in the conference.

No.2 Little Hawks top No.4 Lions

The second-ranked Iowa City High Little Hawks nudged No.4 Linn-Mar, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys soccer match at Linn-Mar Stadium Wednesday night.

The match was delayed a day due to stormy weather Tuesday night.

5 Metro teams ranked in boys soccer

Linn-Mar, Washington and Kennedy are still neck-and-neck in the Class 3A boys soccer rankings.

The Lions are ranked No. 4, Washington No. 5 and Kennedy No. 6 in the Week 7 rankings released Wednesday by the IAHSSCA. Linn-Mar fell one spot this week.

The Xavier Saints are ranked No.4 and Marion is No. 14 in Class 2A. Marion slipped one spot from last week.

Prairie dropped out of the Class 3A rankings.

Lions clinch Valley Division title

No. 3 Linn-Mar had to go to a shootout, but the Lions outgunned visiting Cedar Falls 4-2 in the shootout to post a 1-0 victory on Thursday night at Linn-Mar Stadium.

The victory moved Linn-Mar to 13-2 overall, 6-0 in the MVC Valley Division, clinching an outright division title for the Lions.

Senior goalkeeper Jared Belin was credited with a shutout, his 10th of the season, tying the school record for shutouts in a season, set in 2004 by Clark Anderson.

Linn-Mar - Boys Soccer

No. 3 Lions trim Wahawks in OT

WATERLOO - Devin Eby scored in overtime Tuesday to give No. 3 Linn-Mar a 2-1 victory over Waterloo West in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match at the Cedar Valley Complex.

Ben Johnson gave the Lions a quick 1-0 lead with a goal in the second minute of the contest. Waterloo West tied the match, 1-1, with only one minute left in the second half on a goal by Dzenan Samardzic.

Daniel Luzindya and Hunter Wong collected assists for Linn-Mar on the game-winning goal. Luzindya passed to Wong, who found the cutting Eby for the golden goal game-winner.

It was Linn-Mar's first overtime game of the season.
