Marion boys pop into soccer rankings

The Marion Indians jumped into the boys soccer rankings Wednesday as the No.12 team in Class 2A, according to the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

This is the first time Marion has been ranked all year.

The Metro area now has six teams in the rankings.

The Class 3A rankings show Kennedy at No. 4, Linn-Mar at No. 5, Washington at No.6 and Prairie at No. 11.

The Class 2A rankings have Xavier at No. 4 and Marion at No. 12.

Linn-Mar - Boys Soccer

No. 5 Lions boot No. 12 Hawks

Leroy Enzugusi and Daniel Luzindya scored goals in the second half Tuesday night as fifth-ranked Linn-Mar blanked No. 12 Prairie, 2-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match under the lights at Prairie.

Brian Allsup, Jordan Webb and Blake Comstock collected assists for Linn-Mar.

Jared Belin made 10 saves for the Lions for his seventh shutout of the season.

 

 

 

Linn-Mar - Boys Soccer

No. 5 Lions boot Hempstead

Hunter Wong and Ben Johnson scored goals Thursday night as No. 5 Linn-Mar blanked Dubuque Hempstead, 2-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match at Linn-Mar Stadium.

Blake Comstock and Devin Eby had assists on Johnson's goal.

Wong scored his goal on a direct free kick from just outside the 18-yard box at the 20th minute of the first half.

Senior Jared Belin posted his sixth shutout of the season and seventh for the team.

No.5 Linn-Mar boots Wahlert

DUBUQUE - Leroy Enzugusi and Daniel Luzindya scored goals Tuesday as fifth-ranked Linn-Mar blanked Dubuque Wahlert, 2-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match in Dubuque.
Goalkeeper Jared Belin earned his fourth shutout of the year and collected an assist for the Lions on a long punt to Enzugusi.
Linn-Mar (7-1) peppered Wahlert with 32 shots. The Golden Eagles managed only two shots.

Linn-Mar - Boys Soccer

No.2 Cougars nip No.4 Lions, 3-2

Mark Schulz scored two goals Thursday night as the second-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy Cougars trimmed No.4 Linn-Mar, 3-2, in a premier Mississippi Valley Conference boys soccer match at Linn-Mar.

Nikolas Newcamp also scored for Kennedy (2-1). Killian Magee, Jacob Sarasin, JJ Reinhart, Schulz and Reid Botkin collected assists for the Cougars.

Linn-Mar (6-1) took the lead in the 5th minute and again in the 13th minute, but Kennedy rallied each time.

Daniel Luzindya scored both of the goals for Linn-Mar.

The game was tied at halftime, 2-2.
