Lions dominate Grinnell swim meet

GRINNELL - The Linn-Mar Lions won eight of 11 events Saturday and dominated the competition at the Grinnell Invitational swimming meet.

Matt Peng captured the 200 IM and 100 butterfly for the Lions. He also swam on two triumphant relay teams.

Justin Arebaugh won the 100 freestyle and swam on three victorious relays. Matthew Mather swam on all three winning relays.

Greve, Arebaugh pace L-M swimmers

DUBUQUE - Calvin Greve and Justin Arebaugh were double-winners Tuesday night as Linn-Mar swam to an 85-85 tie with Dubuque Hempstead at a Mississippi Valley Conference meet in Dubuque.

Greve captured the 100 free and Arebaugh claimed the 100 breaststroke. Both of them swam on the triumphant 200 freestyle relay with Reid Snell and Matthew Mather.

Hempstead won 8 of 11 events, but Linn-Mar forged the tie with its depth.

Linn-Mar 3rd at J-Hawk relays

The Linn-Mar boys swimming team scored 74 points for third place at the J-Hawk Relays on Saturday at Jefferson. The Lions won the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 48.42 seconds.

Dubuque Senior won the meet with 96 points.

Jefferson finished fourth with 60 points.

Myers, Greve power Linn-Mar swimmers

Linn-Mar boys swimming team swamped Kennedy 113-57 Tuesday at Linn-Mar.

Hogan Myers won the 200- and 500-yard freestyles in 1 minute, 57.63 seconds and 5:19.60, respectively, for the Lions, and Calvin Greve won the 200 individual medley (2:04.23) and the 100 backstroke (53.37).

Brennan Urbi won the 50 freestyle (22.31) and the 100 freestyle (49.96) for the Cougars.
