Lions sweep West, Decorah

Drew Bloom, Sam Raiche and Nathan Greve won events Tuesday as Linn-Mar won a double-dual swim meet at Linn-Mar.

The Lions nudged Waterloo West, 90-80, and topped Decorah, 95-75. Decorah trimmed Waterloo West, 85-84.

Bloom won the 50 free (22.99), Raiche captured the 100 fly (58.51) and Greve claimed the 100 breaststroke (1:07.36). The Lions also won the 200
medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

Lions get 7 top 4 finishes

WATERLOO -- Linn-Mar had three second-place finishes and seven in the top four Saturday at the Waterloo West Wahawk Invitational swimming meet.

There were no team scores kept. The only two individual events contested were the 50 and 100 freestyles. The rest of the events were relays.

Lions dunked by Little Hawks

IOWA CITY -- Drew Bloom was Linn-Mar's only winner Tuesday night in the Lions' 109-61 loss to Iowa City High at Mercer Aquatic Center.

Bloom won the 50 freestyle in 22.84 seconds. He also finished second in the 100 free.

City High won the junior varsity meet, 111-51.

Lions finish 4th at Clinton meet

CLINTON — Linn-Mar’s Drew Bloom won the 50-yard freestyle for the Lions’ only win and they finished fourth Saturday (Dec. 18) at the Clinton Holiday Invitational boys’ swimming meet.

Muscatine won all three relays and had three individual winners to easily win the meet with 458 points. United Township, Ill., was second with 276, Clinton third at 269 and Linn-Mar fourth with 183.

Bloom also finished fourth in the 100 free. Sam Raiche was fourth in the 100 butterfly and Kyle McNeal fourth in the 500 free. The Lions’ 200 free relay finished third and the 200 medley relay fourth.

Lions split with Trojans, Vikings

Linn-Mar split a double dual meet Tuesday night (Dec. 14) against Iowa City West and Vinton-Shellsburg. The Lions swamped Vinton-Shellsburg, 117-14, but were beaten by West, 88-76.

The Lions won all but one event in its rout of Vinton-Shellsburg. Senior Connor Beard and sophomore Nathan Greve were a four-time winners. Beard won the 50 and 100 free, and swam on the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Greve won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, and swam on the medley relay and 200 free relay.
