Cedar Falls wins L-M swim meet

The sixth-ranked Cedar Falls girls swimming team ran away with top honorsĀ at the Linn-Mar Invitational Saturday at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center.

The Tigers captured six of 12 events and finished with 587 points. Dowling placed second at 390 and Linn-Mar was third at 323.

The host Lions did not win any events. Paige Broghammer finished second in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle relay team of Hannah Gardner,

Broghammer, Serena Brizard and Madison Renz placed second in a tight race with Cedar Falls.

Broghammer helps Lions splash Wahlert

DUBUQUE - Paige Broghammer was a triple-winner Thursday night as the Linn-Mar Lions topped Wahlert, 111-75, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls swimming meet in Dubuque.

Broghammer won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke and swam on the victorious 200 freestyle relay.

Madison Renz took the 50 free for Linn-Mar and Katie Culver captured the diving. Wahlert won seven of 12 events, but the Lions prevailed on superior depth.

Brizard wins Metro Spotlight Award

Serena Brizard of Linn-Mar is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Brizard, a freshman, helped the Linn-Mar swimming team win the Muscatine Invitational on Saturday.

Brizard captured the 200 individual medley in 2:25.62 and claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.11. She also swam on the victorious 400 freestyle relay.

Linn-Mar - Girls Swimming

Linn-Mar wins Muscatine swim title

MUSCATINE - Serena Brizard led the Linn-Mar swimming team to theĀ championship of the Muscatine Invitational Saturday.

Brizard captured the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke for the Lions. She also swam on the triumphant 400 freestyle relay with Emma Behrens, Madison Renz and Hannah Gardner.

The Lions also claimed the 200 freestyle relay with Gardner, Grace Ahlers, Brianna Bisgard and Paige Broghammer.

Linn-Mar edged Muscatine, 385-377, for the title in the six-team meet.

1. Linn-Mar 385, 2. Muscatine 377, 3. Fairfield 197, 4. Williamsburg 139, 5. Tipton 123, 6. Burlington 83.

Cedar Falls sweeps Linn-Mar swimmers

The Cedar Falls Tigers won all 12 events Tuesday and dunked Linn-Mar, 130-56, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls swimming meet at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center.

Meghan Hackett, Madison Hall, Sammi Hall and Olivia Clark won two individual events for Cedar Falls.
