Lion swimmers destroy Decorah

Emilie Berg won two individual events and swam on two winning relays to lead Linn-Mar past Decorah, 117-69, Thursday in a girls swimming meet at the Coe Natatorium.

Berg won the 100 buttefly and 100 breaststroke. She also swam on the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

Linn-Mar's Alex Dunn was a triple winner, taking the 500 free and swimming on the medley and 200 free relays. Nicole Larsen and Samantha Fitzgerald were double winners.

Allison Orvis won three events for Decorah.

Lions swamp Jefferson swimmers

Linn-Mar won all but one event and swamped Jefferson, 137-49, Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls swimming meet at the Coe Natatorium.

Alex Dunn was a four-time winner, nabbing the 50 and 100 freestyle events and swimming on the winning 200 and 400 free relays. Emilie Berg and Samantha Fitzgerald each won individual events and swam on two winning relays. Berg won the 100 backstroke and Fitzgerald the 100 breaststroke.

Lauren Dalecky (200 free), Kelly Wingerson (200 IM), Alexa Klimes  (500 free) and Sam Wagner (diving) won individual events for the Lions. Linn-Mar also won all three relay events.

Kylie Steimer won the 100 butterfly for Jefferson's only win.

Linn-Mar swimmers take 2nd at Dowling event

WEST DES MOINES - Emilie Berg and Sam Wagner won individual titles Saturday to help Linn-Mar finish second at the West Des Moines Dowling Sprint Classic.

Berg captured the 50-yard backstroke in 28.70 seconds and Wagner won the diving title with 356.10 points.

The Chanhassen (Minn.) Swim and Dive club won the team championship with 383 points. Linn-Mar was second with 357 points in a field that included Dowling, Waukee and Ankeny.

The Lions placed second in the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. Nicole Larsen, Lauren Dalecky, Berg and Alex Dunn swam the medley relay in 1:54.56. Dunn, Samantha Fitzgerald, Lizzie Adams and Berg swam the 200 relay in 1:42.89.

Dunn finished third in the 100 free in 55.90 seconds and Larsen was third in the 50 back in 29.99 seconds.

Larsen stars as Linn-Mar swimmers win twice

Nicole Larsen won four events Tuesday as the Linn-Mar Lions defeated Waterloo West and Tipton in a double-dual swimming meet at the Coe College Natatorium.

Linn-Mar topped Waterloo West, 126-60, and dunked Tipton 150-25. The Lions won eight of 12 events.

Larsen won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. She also swam the opening legs on the victorious 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Lizzie Adams helped Linn-Mar take the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Alex Dunn was a triple winner in the 200 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay.

Emilie Berg won the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. She also tied for first place in the 100 butterfly.
