Linn-Mar wins all nine titles at Pleasant Valley

PLEASANT VALLEY -- Linn-Mar won every match and rolled to the championship Saturday at the Pleasant Valley Invitational.

"We had one of our best days of tennis so far this season," Linn-Mar Coach Chris Wundram said. "Everyone played at a high level and we had some great results."

Linn-Mar was first with 27 points and Pleasant Valley second with 16. Pleasant Valley finished second in eight of the nine championship matches.

Lions tame Wahlert in boys tennis

DUBUQUE -- Linn-Mar won two singles matches in extra sets and beat Dubuque Wahlert, 6-3, Thursday in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys tennis meet.

Linn-Mar's Gavin Young beat Joey Ottavi, 10-4, and Dillon Einck beat Buddy Franson, 10-8, after they each had split their first two sets.

The win was Linn-Mar's 25th in its last 26 MVC meets. The Lions were beaten in their last meet by Iowa City West, snapping their 24-meet streak.

Trojans snap Linn-Mar's MVC record win streak

IOWA CITY -- Dillon Einck won the only match of the meet Monday for Linn-Mar in the Lions' 8-1 loss to Iowa City West in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys tennis meet.

The loss snapped Linn-Mar's MVC record for consecutive wins at 24. The Lions are 4-2 overall, 3-1 in the MVC.

Linn-Mar boys tennis sets MVC record with 24th straight win

Linn-Mar set the Mississippi Valley Conference record for consecutive wins by a boys tennis team with its 24th Thursday in a 9-0 whitewashing of Jefferson at Linn-Mar.

The Lions broke the previous mark of 23 set by Kennedy.

Linn-Mar is 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the MVC.  The Lions have won their first three conference meets this season by a total score of 27-0.

"We played well tonight in some tough weather conditions for both teams," Linn-Mar Coach Chris Wundram said. "Jefferson is a good team and our guys had to play hard to get the win."

Jefferson dropped to 1-3, 0-3.

Lions' MVC win streak reaches record-tying 23

DUBUQUE -- The Linn-Mar boys tied a Mississippi Valley Conference record for consecutive boys tennis wins Tuesday night in a 9-0 whitewash of Dubuque Hempstead.

The win was the Lions' 23rd straight in the MVC, matching Kennedy's record. Linn-Mar is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the MVC this season.

"The guys came out ready to play tonight and it showed," Linn-Mar Coach Chris Wundram said. "Hempstead is a tough team who was undefeated before we played them and we really responded well to the challenge."
