Lions' conference win streak to 22

Linn-Mar ran its conference winning streak to 22 straight with a 9-0 whitewash of Dubuque Senior on Tuesday night at Linn-Mar.

The Lions (2-1, 1-0 MVC) are one shy of the Mississippi Valley Conference record of 23 straight loop wins held by Kennedy.

"It was great to start off the conference schedule with a win," Linn-Mar Coach Chris Wundram said. "One of our goals this season is to compete for the conference title and it starts with the first meet."

Lions boys tennis splits in Quad Cities

The Linn-Mar boys tennis team played two matches in the Quad Cities Saturday and broke even.

The Lions blanked Davenport West, 9-0, and lost to Bettendorf, 6-3.

"This was a great test for our team today against Bettendorf," said Linn-Mar Coach Chris Wundram. "Although we didn't get the win, we pushed
them and were a couple points away from coming out with a win.

"For being the first meet of the season, I think our team performed well," he said. "Bettendorf is one of the top teams in the state this season and it's encouraging that we were able to stand toe to toe with them."

Bettendorf finished second at the state tournament last year.

Gavin Young and Scott Kleyman won both of their singles matches for the Lions. Young and Brady Anderson teamed to win both of their doubles matches.
