Linn-Mar girls bounce City High

IOWA CITY - The Linn-Mar High School girls tennis team swept the doubles competition Tuesday and trimmed Iowa City High, 6-3, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet in Iowa City.

The match was tied, 3-3, after singles action, but the Lions showed their strength in the doubles matches. Katie Rakers and Jenna Myers won at No. 1 doubles, Mackenzie Luehring and Gabi Botsford prevailed at No. 2 doubles and Ashley Smith and Ashley Resewehr won at No.3 doubles.

Linn-Mar girls sweep MVC tennis meet

The Linn-Mar girls tennis team enjoyed its trip to Blackhawk County on Saturday.

The Lions defeated Cedar Falls, 8-1, in the morning and trumped Waterloo East, 9-0, in the afternoon.

Katie Rakers, Jenna Myers, Ashley Smith, Mackenzie Luehring and Gabi Botsford won both of their singles matches for Linn-Mar.

Rakers paces Linn-Mar girls past Hempstead

DUBUQUE -- Linn-Mar's Katie Rakers routed Katie Meyer, 10-1, at No. 1 singles and the Lions hammered Dubuque Hempstead, 6-3, Tuesday in girls tennis.

Rakers and Jenna Myers teamed to win at No. 1 doubles by a 10-2 count over Meyer and Andrea Caceres.

Linn-Mar netters finish 2nd at PV tourney

PLEASANT VALLEY - The Linn-Mar High School girls tennis team finished second at the David Ramnath Invitational Saturday with a 2-1 record.

The Lions defeated Davenport Central, 9-0, and plunked Pleasant Valley, 8-1, for their two victories. Camanche blanked the Lions, 9-0, and won the tournament with a 3-0 record.

Katie Rakers, Jenna Myers, Mackenzie Luehring, Gabi Botsford and Kalene Heaverlo won two singles matches for Linn-Mar.
