Balanced Benton golfers trip Marion

VAN HORNE - Benton Community had three golfers shoot a 40 as the Bobcats edged Marion, 162-173, in a Wamac Conference boys golf meet at Tara Hills.

Marion's Ian Kelly also had a 40 to share medalist honors.

Benton: Spencer Hill 40, Landen Pace 40, Spencer Touro 40, Brandon Lewis 42

Marion: Ian Kelly 40, Trey Clifton 41, Jacob Kriegel 45, John Carstensen 47

Marion golfers take 2nd at Ed-Co

EDGEWOOD - The Marion High School boys golf team finished second at the Ed-Co Tournament at the Woods Edge Golf Club in Edgewood Saturday.

Chris Cooksley fired a 76 to help Each Buchanan win the team title at 320. Marion finished 25 shots behind Each Buchanan at 345.

John Carstensen and Ian Kelly of Marion tied for fourth with 81's. Jack Serbousek shot 91 for the Indians and Jacob Kriegel had a 92.

Team Standings

1. East Buchanan 320, 2. Marion 345, 3. Monticello 347, 4. Ed-Coe 382, 5. Cascade 387, 6. Bellevue Marquette 422.

Kelly leads Marion at sectional golf

Ian Kelly shot an 81 Friday to lead the Marion Indians at the Class 3A sectional tournament at Gardner Golf Course.

Kelly placed ninth in the individual standings. Jeremy Schnieders of Marion finished one shot behind his teammate.

Zach Buch of Williamsburg led his team to the sectional title by claimingmedalist honors with a 75. Williamsburg and DeWitt Central advanced to the district tournament.

Kelly fires 74 for Marion Indians

Ian Kelly of Marion High School fired a 2-over-par 74 Wednesday to claim medalist honors in a triangular meet at the Gardner Golf Course.

Williamsburg won the meet at 329, followed by Marion (341) and Vinton-Shellsburg (357).

MARION: Ian Kelly 74, Jeremy Schnieders 82, Daly Quinn 92, Mitch Kack 93, John Carstensen 93, Chaz Vasser 101.

Schnieders, Quinn lead Marion at Wamac

MANCHESTER - Jeremy Schnieders and Daly Quinn both shot 13-over-par 84's Monday as the Marion Indians placed ninth at the Wamac Conference Super Meet at the Pin Oak Golf Course in Manchester.

West Delaware won the meet. Bryce Frick of West Delaware was the medalist with a 73.

MARION: Jeremy Schnieders 84, Daly Quinn 84, Ian Kelly 85, Jack Serbousek 93.
