Jefferson grapplers bump off Warriors

The Jefferson wrestling team won 11 of 14 matches and beat Washington, 65-11, in a Mississippi Valley Conference dual Thursday at Washington.

Colten Mastin (113 pounds), Joseph Sibomana (120), Dalton Mastin (132), Taylor Viktora (195), Keenan Stewart (220) and David Bonner (285) had pins for the J-Hawks.

Logan Sears led the Warriors with a technical fall at 138.

J-Hawk boys stay unbeaten in bowling

DUBUQUE – Riley Walton rolled a 247 game and a 434 series as the Jefferson boys bowling team remained undefeated with a 2,833 to 2,609 win over Dubuque Wahlert in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Tuesday at Cherry Lanes.

Jack Kamentz had a 394 series for the Golden Eagles.

Jeff girls trimmed by Wahlert bowlers

DUBUQUE – The Dubuque Wahlert girls bowling team edged Jefferson, 2,290 pins to 2,196, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Tuesday at Cherry Lanes.

Megan Kitzmiller led the J-Hawks with a 205 game and 362 series.

Cindy Stierman rolled a 338 series for the Golden Eagles.

Jeff girls flatten Davenport Central

DAVENPORT – The Jefferson girls basketball team made short work of winless Davenport Central, rolling 68-33 in a non conference game Tuesday at Central.

Emily Oler scored 13 points for the J-Hawks (7-6), who led 17-2 after the first quarter. Avery Guy and Kylie Wise each added 10 points.

Davenport Central fell to 0-13.

Van Oort sparks J-Hawks by Davenport

Adam Van Oort scored 20 points as the Jefferson boys basketball team beat Davenport Central, 69-59, in a non conference game Tuesday at Jefferson.

The J-Hawks led 51-50 at the start of the fourth quarter, but pulled away down the stretch.

Valentino Green and Dennis McKinney each scored 14 points for Jefferson (4-9). Kane Kramer added 10 points.

Kelvin Miller scored 16 points for Davenport Central (8-4).
