Ranschau commits to UNI for track

Abbie Ranschau and Jasmine Blue have been partners on record-setting relay teams for the Cedar Rapids Jefferson girls track team during their high school careers.

Now they'll be partners at the University of Northern Iowa as well.

Ranschau has decided to continue her promising track career at UNI after she graduates from Jefferson this spring. Blue previously announced her plans to run for the Panthers.

Ranschau enjoyed a brilliant overall performance at the Class 4A state track meet last May as a junior. She won the 100 meter hurdles and helped Jefferson capture the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, highlighted by a state record in the 4x200.

Ranschau also helped the J-Hawks place second in the sprint medley at the state meet.

Jefferson finished fifth in the team standings at state.
