Stewart notches 464 series for Indians

Jarrett Stewart had a 233 game and a 464 series to lead the Marion boys bowling team to a 3,130 to 2,420 victory over Denver in a non-conference meet Thursday at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Dakota Timmerman rolled a 433 series for the Indians and Dylan Nash followed with a 427.

Mason Rapien had a 345 series for the Cyclones.

Smith rolls 400 for Marion girls

Bre Smith rolled a 204 game and a 400 series to lead the Marion girls bowling team in a 2,615 to 2,125 win over Denver in a non-conference meet Thursday at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Alexis Smith fashioned a 202 game and 395 series for the Indians.

Hannah Roeding had a 365 series for the Cyclones.

Kennedy girls fall; Lions, Warriors climb

The Cedar Rapids Kennedy girls basketball team dropped from No. 1 all the way down to No. 6 in the new Class 5A rankings Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Kennedy (15-2) lost last week to Cedar Falls, which used the victory to jump from 10th to fourth in the rankings. Ankeny Centennial is the top-ranked team in Class 5A this week.

The Linn-Mar Lions (12-4) jumped from 13th to 10th in the Class 5A rankings. The Washington Warriors (11-6) claimed the 15th and final spot in the poll.

Marion boys fall flat to Bobcats

The Marion boys basketball team couldn’t get rolling on offense and fell to Benton Community, 56-36, in a Wamac Conference game Tuesday at Marion.

The Indians (6-9) trailed 36-16 at halftime. Chase Zielke led Marion with eight points.

The Bobcats (11-5) made 11 3-point goals.

Rice paces No. 7 Indians by Benton

VAN HORNE – Chloe Rice scored 16 points as the seventh-ranked Marion girls basketball team pounded Benton Community, 60-32, in a Wamac Conference game Tuesday.

Mia Laube added 13 points for the Indians (12-4).

The Bobcats fell to 9-8.
