Semler's 33 not enough for Indians

WILLIAMSBURG -- Kasey Semler poured in 33 points for Marion Friday night, but they weren't enough.

Williamsburg topped the Indians, 70-65, in a Wamac Conference game.

Dylan Cronk scored 12 points for Marion (9-7, 9-5) and Dan Van Gorp added 11. Jackson Petz hit five 3-pointers and scored 25 points for Williamsburg (9-8, 9-6).

No. 8 Williamsburg girls cool off Indians

Mackenzie Bigbee scored 18 points and freshman point guard Paige Greiner added 12 to lead Class 3A No. 8 Williamsburg past Marion, 49-34, Friday in a Wamac Conference girls basketball game at Marion.

Williamsburg ran its record to 16-2 overall and 15-1 in Wamac Conference games.

Jessie Kramer led Marion (6-11, 5-10) with 10 points. The Indians lost for only the second time in their last seven games and both have been to highly ranked Class 3A teams. The other loss was to No. 2 Mount Vernon.

Marion girls nearly beat boys team

WATERLOO -- Emily Clapp rolled a 174 high game and 324 series to lead the Marion girls in their match Friday against the AGWSR boys JV team.

Marion lost, 2244-2218. The Indians rolled against the AGWSR boys JV team because AGWSR does not field a girls team.

Stephanie Loesel recorded games of 165 and 145 for a 310 series for Marion.

Indians roll up short against AGWSR

WATERLOO -- Zach Burhite rolled a 221 high game and 387 to lead the Marion boys bowlers in a 2541-2435 loss to AGWSR Friday.

Russell Clayton rolled a 213 for Marion (3-8).

Morehouse wins twice at Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG -- Scout Morehouse won twice, but Marion suffered a pair of Wamac Conference wrestling losses Thursday.

The Indians got beat by Benton Community, 59-23, and Williamsburg, 60-9.

Morehouse (112) and Kyle Grandon (189) had falls against Benton Community. Morehouse won a decision against Williamsburg. The Indians' other win was a pin by 160-pounder Tyler Spear.
