Prairie Hawks 4th at Geneseo tourney

GENESEO, Ill. - Logan Rodriguez of Cedar Rapids Kennedy won the 126-pound title at the Geneseo Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.

Rodriguez pinned Hunter Grau of Geneseo in the finals in 4:33.

Josh Wenger (138) and Skyler St. John (160) finished second for the Prairie Hawks. They both dropped 3-1 decisions in the finals.

Bettendorf won the championship of the 21-team tournament. Prairie placed fourth and Kennedy was 10th.

Mims sparks Prairie past Warriors

Michael Mims sure knows how to change a game.

Making three spectacular plays that shifted the momentum of the game, the 5-foot-9 junior guard led the Prairie Hawks to a workmanlike 47-41 victory over the Washington Warriors Friday night at Washington.

Prairie won its second game in a row and improved to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Washington lost its third straight and slipped to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the MVC.

Franklin sparks Warriors by Prairie

She hit 3-pointers. She rebounded. She passed the ball. She blocked shots. She even sold popcorn at halftime.

Well, four out of five ain’t bad.

Dani Franklin put on a dazzling do-everything performance for the Washington Warriors Friday night, collecting 27 points, four rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in a gritty 59-52 win over Prairie at the Warrior gym.

“That’s funny,” Franklin said when asked if she sold popcorn at halftime. “I haven’t heard that one before.”

Galloros lead Prairie boys past City High

Prairie rallied from a 20-pin deficit and rolled four games of 200 or more in the Baker round to beat Iowa City High, 2961-2852, in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Prairie was led by Andrew Galloro's 398 series. Lucas Galloro rolled a 389. Andrew Galloro had high game of 230.

Wes Kirchner shot a 235 high game and 416 series for City High.

Red-hot Blood leads Prairie girls past City High

Rylee Blood was red-hot for the Prairie girls Friday, firing games of 224 and 255 for a 479 series that led the Hawks' rout of Iowa City High, 2866-2156, in a bowling match at Lancer Lanes.

Prairie's Amber Westemeier had a high game of 212 en route to a 416 series. Sabrina Keiper shot a 203 game.
