Grady quadruplets boost Prairie bowlers

Veteran Cedar Rapids Prairie bowling coach Don Wilfong says he once had a set of twins on his girls team but that it caused little confusion.

“Luckily, they parted their hair differently so I could tell them apart.”

This year, though, is even more of a rarity as all four of the 15-year-old Grady quadruplets are on the roster.

Two of them, Lindsey and Ashley, are on the six-member varsity squad and bowled Saturday in the fifth annual Prairie Invitational at Lancer Lanes.

Lions nipped for title; Hawks upend No.1

The Linn-Mar Lions came within a whisker of derailing the top-ranked high school wrestling team from Wisconsin on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Prairie Hawks succeeded in knocking off the No.1 team from Iowa.

It was a good day for the two Metro powers at the 22nd Annual Five Seasons Dual Wrestling Tournament.

It was nearly a great day.

Linn-Mar split its 14 matches with Kaukauna (Wis.), but the Galloping Ghosts got enough bonus points to nip the Lions, 33-32, in the championship match of the prestigious 16-team tournament at Cedar Rapids Washington.

No.3 Rams spank Prairie, 61-32

DUBUQUE - Luke McDonnell and Kyle Haber scored 16 points apiece Friday night as third-ranked Dubuque Senior rolled by Prairie, 61-32, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Dubuque.

Michael Mims scored nine points for Prairie  (2-3, 0-1).

Haber made four 3-pointers for the Rams (2-0, 1-0).

Dellamuth shines as Hawks top Rams

Madison Dellamuth popped in seven 3-pointers and scored 26 points Friday night as Cedar Rapids Prairie defeated Dubuque Senior, 58-48, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game at Prairie.

Dellamuth shot 7 for 12 on 3-pointers and collected six assists for the Hawks (4-2, 3-1).

"She was into the flow offensively," said Prairie Coach Steve Doser. "She played with a lot of confidence tonight."

Cyerra Hutchins contributed 13 points and five rebounds for Prairie. Makenzie Stoffer had eight rebounds.

Hawks roll past Cougar girls

Rylee Blood had the hot hand for the Prairie girls Friday firing games of 220 and 200 for a 420 series that led the Hawks to a 2641-2445 bowling win over Kennedy at Lancer Lanes.

The Hawks held a 176-pin lead after the first round.

Amber Westemeier rolled a 368 series for Prairie.

Alyssa Wiedemeier shot high game (196) and series (357) for Kennedy.
