Red-hot Robe sets school record in rout

Linn-Mar's Dreyson Robe was atomic hot on the Cedar Rapids Bowl lanes Friday, firing games of 269 and 279 for a school-record series of 548 in the Lions' 3402-2485 whipping of Prairie in boys bowling.

Robe's series topped the old mark of 547 set by Robert Wyant.

Justin Wyant fired games of 231 and 277 for a 508 series for the Lions.

Prairie girls rally past Linn-Mar bowlers

Prairie rallied from a 44-pin deficit and toppled Linn-Mar, 2639-2635, Friday in girls bowling at Cedar Rapids Bowl.

Rylee Blood fired a 255 high game and 432 series for Prairie.

Brooke McMorran shot a 405 series in the first round for Linn-Mar that helped the Lions build their lead.

Prairie wrestlers want shot at dual meet title

The wrestlers at Cedar Rapids Prairie want to put their best lineup on the mat for the state dual meet tournament next Wednesday in Des Moines and take a shot at the title.

Here's the big question: Will Coach Blake Williams agree?

It's not a simple answer.

The second-ranked Hawks topped 12th-ranked West Des Moines Valley, 40-29, in the regional tournament Wednesday night at Prairie to advance to the state meet.

Prairie girls earn shot at MVC title

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team has never won a Mississippi Valley Conference title, but the Hawks will get a shot at one Friday night.

Prairie earned a shot at the title by dispensing Cedar Falls, 70-40, in an MVC game at Prairie Tuesday night.

Prairie and Waterloo West are tied for first place in the Valley Division with 9-3 records with one game left in the regular season. As luck would have it, they'll battle each other for the title Friday night in Waterloo.

Hawks No.2, Lions No.5 in mat ratings

Cedar Rapids Prairie is ranked No.2 in the Iowa Wrestling Coaches Association dual meet rankings this week with a 30-3 record.

The Linn-Mar Lions are ranked No.5 with a 25-7 mark.

Both teams will compete in the Class 3A regional dual meet tournament Wednesday night. Prairie will host No.12 West Des Moines Valley and Linn-Mar will host No.10 Clinton.

Both meets will begin at 7 p.m. The winners advance to the state dual meet tournament in Des Moines on Feb. 13.
