Kirkwood women crush Oakton, 111-19

Caitlin Sudduth led six players into double figures Friday night with 18 points as the Kirkwood women's basketball team crushed Oakton, 111-19, in the first round of the Kirkwood Classic at Johnston Hall.

Kirkwood blanked Oakton, 24-0, in the first period and led 58-4 at halftime.

Deleyah Harris scored 15 points, Rylee Voss 12, Mesha Wheatly 11, Amber Lemons 10 and Madison Wood 10 for the Eagles (4-3).

Kirkwood - Womens Basketball

No.6 KCC women fall to No.2 team

The Kirkwood women's basketball team bumped off a top-5 opponent in the Kirkwood Classic Friday night, but the Eagles were not able to do it again Saturday night.

The sixth-ranked Eagles lost to No. 2 Illinois Central, 76-64, in the final game of the two-day tournament at Johnson Hall Saturday.

Kirkwood defeated No. 5 Parkland, 72-50, Friday night in the first round of the tournament and finished the competitive event with an even split.

Emma Heisler popped in seven 3-pointers and scored 21 points to lead Illinois Central against the Eagles Saturday afternoon with an uncanny display of marksmanship.

Kirkwood - Womens Basketball

Wood nets 18 as Eagles top Parkland

The Kirkwood women’s basketball team topped Parkland College, 72-50, in the first round of the Kirkwood Classic on Friday at Johnson Hall.

Madison Wood had 18 points and three blocks to lead the Eagles, Cyerra Hutchins had nine points and five steals, Chazney Jones had seven points and six rebounds, and Deleyah Harris had seven rebounds.

Kirkwood will play Illinois Central at 3 p.m. Saturday as the tournament continues.

KIRKWOOD (72): Harris 1 0-0 3, Miles 1 0-2 2, Downs 3 0-0 6, Wheatly 1 2-2 5, Oberman 2 0-0 6, Sudduth 2 1-4 6, Voss 3 0-0 6, Hutchins 2 4-4 9, Dampler 2 0-0 4, Jennings 0 0-0 0, Jones 3 1-1 7, Wood 9 0-1 18. Totals 29 8-14 72.

No.6 Kirkwood women post easy win

The sixth-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team cruised to an 85-26 victory over the Culver-Stockton junior varsity Saturday at Johnson Hall.

Madison Wood had another strong game for the Eagles with 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals, two assists and one blocked shot.

Deleyah Harris joined a balanced attack with 13 points. Cyerra Hutchins scored 11 points and Ariana Dampier had 10.

Coach Kim Muhl used 13 players in the game and 12 of them found the scoring column. Rylee Voss, Hutchins, Dominique Jennings and Chazney Jones had five rebounds. Dampier led the team with four assists.

Kirkwood squared its record at 2-2.

Wood nets triple-double for Kirkwood

QUINCY, Ill. - Madison Wood played the game of her life for the Kirkwood women's basketball team Wednesday night.

Wood collected a triple-double with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocked shots as the sixth-ranked Eagles defeated John Wood, 57-50, in a non-conference game in Quincy, Ill.

Wood is a 6-foot-3 sophomore from Cedar Falls High School.

Casey Miles scored 11 points and Cyerra Hutchins had 10 points for Kirkwood. A.J. Downs finished with seven points, six rebounds and five assists. Deleyah Harris claimed six rebounds. Miles and Hutchins had five rebounds.

Kirkwood raised its record to 1-2.
