Kirkwood golfers top national rankings

The Kirkwood men's golf team has jumped to the No. 1 spot in the  latest NJCAA Division II rankings by Bushnell Golfweek.

Coach Darin Pint's team was ranked No. 3 in the previous poll, but the  Eagles climbed ahead of South Mountain and Mississippi Gulf Coast in  tight voting.

Kirkwood received 64 points, South Mountain 62 and Mississippi Gulf  Coast 60. Kirkwood and South Mountain both received three first-place  votes.

Kirkwood volleyball sweeps Iowa Lakes

ESTHERVILLE - The Kirkwood women's volleyball team swept Iowa Lakes,  25-23, 25-9, 25-22, in an ICCAC conference match Wednesday night in  Estherville.

Anna Gorsich led the attack for the 19th-ranked Eagles with 14 kills  and 10 digs. Olivia Richards contributed nine kills and 14 digs. Abbie  Ericson had eight kills.

Madi Wagaman distributed 26 assists for Kirkwood. Maranda Wheelock had  20 digs.

KCC golfers edged at regional preview

RIVERSIDE - The Kirkwood men's golf team was edged by DMACC, 306-308,  for top honors at the NJCAA Region XI fall title Monday at Blue Top  Ridge.

Noah Hartman of DMACC claimed medalist honors at even-par 72.

Ben  Epperly of Kirkwood finished second at 2-over 74.

No. 19 Eagles fall to ranked teams

FORT DODGE - The Kirkwood women's volleyball team lost to a pair of  ranked teams at the Triton Invitational in Fort Dodge Saturday.

The 19th-ranked Eagles fell to No. 4 Cowley, 21-25, 22-25, 25-10,  25-13, 15-11, despite taking a 2-0 lead after the first two sets.

Kirkwood bowed to No. 18 North Dakota College of Science, 23-25,  25-22, 25-18, 28-26, after grabbing the first set in that match.

The twin defeats dropped the Eagles to 20-12 for the season.

No. 19 Eagles split two matches

FORT DODGE - The Kirkwood women's volleyball team split its two  matches at the Triton Invitational in Fort Dodge Friday.

The 19th-ranked Eagles were trimmed by Carl Sandburg in their first  match, 17-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 15-11, despite taking a 2-1 lead in  the first three sets.

Kirkwood bounced back by sweeping St. Louis, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19.

The split left the Eagles at 20-10 overall for the campaign.
