Coe College - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Coe triple jumpers place 3rd

DECORAH - Kenzie Drahn and Erik Franklin placed third in the triple jump for the Coe College track teams Saturday at the Iowa Conference indoor meet in Decorah.

Drahn finished third in the women's triple jump at 35 feet, 2 1/2 inches. Franklin claimed third in the men's triple jump at 44 feet, 1 1/4 inch.

The Kohawks placed third in the 4x800 relay in 8:02.07 with Beau Freeborn, Joshua Randall, Jon Ameling and Austin Springsteen sharing the baton.

Coe cruises past Concordia-Moorhead, 8-1

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - Riley Galbraith won at No.1 singles and the Coe men routed Concordia-Moorhead, 8-1, Saturday to start its Florida tennis trip.

The Kohawks (8-0) swept all six singles matches.

Zack Decker was the only Coe player to win in both singles and doubles. Coe used 11 players in the match.

Coe women netters whip Concordia-Moorhead

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - Coe started off its Florida spring trip Saturday with a resounding 9-0 women's tennis victory over Concordia-Moorhead.

Tai Lucero did not allow a point in her matches. She won 6-0, 6-0 at No.1 singles and teamed with Jordan Ferree to win 8-0 at No.1 doubles.

Tamara Washington and Rachel Schaefer also won singles and doubles matches for the Kohawks (12-1).

Kohawks run 4th in distance medley

DECORAH - The Coe College men's track team placed fourth in the distance medley at the Iowa Conference Indoor meet Friday in Decorah.

Jon Amling, Nate Wood, Joshua Randall and Austin Springsteen covered the race in 10:47.84.

The Kohawks finished fifth in the 4x200 relay with Anton Jones, Erik Franklin, Clayton Birkes and Beau Freeborn clocked in 1:33.68.

Reed saves Kohawks against BV

With their season dangling by a thread Thursday night, Coe women's basketball coach Randi Peterson wanted Mackenzie Reed to take the final shot of the game.

The 5-foot-10 senior from Iowa City West delivered.

Reed drove to the basket and banked in a shot with 5.2 seconds left to give the Kohawks a dramatic 65-64 victory over Buena Vista in the semifinals of the Iowa Conference tournament at Eby Fieldhouse.

Coe (16-10) will face Loras (18-8) in the tournament finals Saturday afternoon at Loras.
