Monson third at Mount Mercy invite

Meg Monson of Mount Mercy shot an 85 Sunday in the final round of the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Hunters Ridge to finish in for third place.

Monson shot an 81 on Saturday and finished at 166, two shots behind winner Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo. Erin Isaacson  of Viterbo was second at 165.

The 1-2 finish led Viterbo to the team title at 676, 28 shots ahead of runner-up Clarke. Mount Mercy ended up fifth and Coe finished ninth. Madi Goodfellow of Mount Mercy shot an two-day total of 171 to finish ninth.

Bethany Lehman led Coe with a 183.

Mustangs place 4th at Gourley Open

LIBERTY, Mo. - The Mount Mercy women's track team finished fourth out of 20 teams at the Gourley Open Saturday in Liberty, Mo.

The Mount Mercy men finished 16th out of 19 teams.

The Mustangs got second-place showings from Eveline Niyokwizigigwa in the women's 10,000 meter run (40:53.43), Kayla Hanson in the hammer throw (150-10) and Evan Bowman in the men's 10,000 meter run (34:22.30).

The Mount Mercy women also finished second in the 4x400 relay in 4:04.96 with Sha'Rhonda Clark, Capria Davis, Allison Scott and Liz Mosbach.

The Mustangs had third-place finishes from Mosbach in the 800 (2:18.38), Dana Ewan in the women's 10,000 (41:30.31), Kristi Feldman in the discus (112-0) and Anthony Kinley in the men's 10,000 (35:53.45).

Lincoln (Mo.) won the men's and women's titles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monson paces Mount Mercy golfers

Meg Monson of Mount Mercy shot an 81 Saturday to stand in second place after the opening round of the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Hunters Ridge.

Madi Goodfellow of Mount Mercy shot an 82 to help the Mustangs grab second place in the team standings behind Viterbo heading into the final round Sunday.

Katelyn Gille of Ashford fired an 80 Saturday to take a one-shot lead into the final round.

Bethany Lehman led Coe with a 92.

Mustangs suffer 2 tough losses

The Mount Mercy baseball team dropped a pair of one-run games to William Penn Saturday in a Midwest Collegiate Conference doubleheader at the Xavier High School field.

William Penn won the first game, 2-1, in 11 innings. The Statesmen took the nightcap, 4-3.

Mount Mercy wasted strong pitching performances in both games. Austin Czerwiec pitched 10 innings and allowed only one run in the opener. Ryan Flaherty tossed seven innings in relief in the second game and allowed only one unearned run.

O'Donnell will play at Mount Mercy

Kandis O'Donnell of Cedar Rapids Washington plans to stay in town and play college basketball at Mount Mercy University.

O'Donnell, a 5-foot-11 forward, averaged 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds for Washington this season. She helped the Warriors compile a 13-9 record.

O'Donnell was named first team all-Mississippi Valley Conference and first team all-Metro. She will be joining Washington grad Abby Herb with the Mustangs.
