Cougars down No. 1 Linn-Mar, 2-1

Alyssa Drewelow and Alissa Waterhouse score first-half goals and Kennedy made them stand up as the Cougars upset top-ranked and previously unbeaten Linn-Mar, 2-1, on Thursday night at Linn-Mar Stadium.

Kenadee Dekko had the assist for the No. 7 Cougars, the defending Class 3A state champion.

Linn-Mar scored when Kennedy put the ball in its own net midway through the second half, but the Lions, who were ousted by the Cougars in the regional final last season, couldn't come up with the tying goal.
