Roberts lifts No 2 Lions by No. 5 Dowling

JOHNSTON - Brook Roberts scored two goals in the first half Saturday morning as No.2 Linn-Mar blanked No.5 Dowling Catholic, 2-0, at the West Des Moines Valley/Johnston girls soccer tournament.

Jensen Sevening and Olivia Garcia collected assists for Linn-Mar.

The Lions raised their record to 15-0 with 13 shutouts.

No. 2 Lions trim No. 8 Waukee, 2-1

WEST DES MOINES - Olivia Garcia scored a goal in each half Friday as No. 2 Linn-Mar topped No. 8 Waukee, 2-1, at a major soccer tournament in West Des Moines.

Jensen Sevening and Claire Larson collected assists for the Lions.

Waukee scored on a penalty kick in the second half to tie the game, but Garcia notched her second goal in the 75th minute for the final margin

Marion girls join soccer rankings

The Marion High School girls soccer team popped into the state rankings in the No. 15 spot in Class 2A Friday, according to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

The Indians (7-4) were not ranked last week.

The Xavier Saints dropped one spot in the Class 2A rankings to No. 3. Waverly-Shell Rock and North Scott are ranked 1-2 in Class 2A.

Linn-Mar held onto the No. 2 spot in Class 3A and Prairie remained No. 10 in Class 3A. Bettendorf topped the 3A rankings again.

No.2 Lions collect 12th shutout

IOWA CITY - The No.2 Linn-Mar girls soccer team raised its record to 13-0 Tuesday with a 3-0 whitewash of the Iowa City High Little Hawks in Iowa City.

It was Linn-Mar's 12th shutout of the season.

Lexi Frese, Claire Larson and Olivia Garcia scored goals for the Lions. Brooke Roberts had two assists and Jensen Sevening had another.

No.2 Linn-Mar girls win easy

WATERLOO - The second-ranked Linn-Mar girls soccer team rolled to a 10-0 victory over Waterloo East Friday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference game that was stopped at halftime.

Ten different players scored for the Lions with Olivia Garcia, Malory Garman, Kayla Kvach, Claire Larson, Emily Menges, Allie Noggle, Brooke Roberts, Maddie Saville, Jensen Sevening and Allie Strottman all finding the net.

Larson collected three assists. Ryle Frese had two assists and Noggle had one.
