Xavier girls stay No. 1 in soccer poll

The Xavier Saints held onto the No.1 spot in the Class 2A girls soccer rankings Friday.

The Saints, who have won eight state titles in a row, have been ranked No.1 all year.

The Linn-Mar Lions remained No.2 in the Class 3A poll. Kennedy climbed one notch to No.8 in the 3A rankings.

Garcia lifts No. 2 Lions in OT

DUBUQUE - Junior Olivia Garcia netted the only goal of the game in overtime at No. 2-ranked Linn-Mar escaped with a 1-0 win Thursday night over Dubuque Hempstead at Hempstead.

Kayla Kvach assited on Garcia's goal for the 7-0 Lions.

 

Linn-Mar - Girls Soccer

No. 2 Lions kick Wahlert, 5-0

Jensen Sevening scored two goals Tuesday night as second-ranked Linn-Mar blanked Dubuque Wahlert, 5-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls soccer match at Linn-Mar.

Olivia Garcia, Kayla Kvach and Claire Larson also scored for the Lions. Jenna Ajram collected an assist.

Linn-Mar led at halftime, 2-0.

No.2 Lions blank Cedar Falls

Olivia Garcia scored twice in the second half Monday to give No.2 Linn-Mar a 2-0 victory over Cedar Falls in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match.

Jensen Sevening and Kayla Kvach collected assists for the Lions.

Xavier girls stay No. 1 in soccer poll

The Xavier Saints held onto their No.1 spot in the Class 2A girls soccer rankings Friday despite losing to Dubuque Hempstead this week. Hempstead climbed from No.6 to No.4 in the Class 3A poll.

The Linn-Mar Lions jumped two spots to No.2 in the Class 3A rankings after defeating Kennedy Thursday night. The Cougars fell from No.2 to No.9.
