Eilers scores 21 in Prairie boys loss

WATERLOO — Carderrius Smith drained two free throws with seven seconds left to ice Waterloo West's 72-68 win over Prairie Friday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball game.

Smith led the Wahawks (7-4, 4-3) with 23 points.

Thomas Eilers scored 21 points to lead Prairie (4-8, 3-5). Jace Hanna added 19 and Tyler Mougin had 10.

West led 33-27 at halftime, but Prairie cut the margin to 45-43 by the end of the third quarter.

Prairie knocked down 12 3-point goals. Eilers had five.
