Prairie brooms off Wahlert

Prairie jumped out to early leads in both games and swept a softball doubleheader from Dubuque Wahlert, 5-1 and 9-6, Tuesday at Prairie.

The Hawks scored five runs over the first two innings of the opener to back Katie Kuch's six-hit, eight-strikeout pitching.

Gabi Carter had two hits and an RBI, and Malia Gudenkauf two RBIs.

The Hawks pushed across four runs in the first inning of the nightcap, then tallied five more times over the fourth and fifth innings.

 

Olivia Usher was 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Halle Lueck also was 2-for-2. Natalie Rumer had two RBIs.

Sara Stevenson pitched 5.2 innings for the win. Natalie Halvorson got the final two outs for the save.
